The Hazards of Love is unbearably twee so far. I think there's a part in every song that has made me cringe. And I don't understand why he likes the word taiga so much.

Everything about that band should annoy me...the themes, the singer's voice etc. but it doesn't.

Tried the Crane Wife and found it meh, so didn't bother with HoL.

Colin's voice is okay, but I cannot stand Margaret, and the melodies and words she sings don't help either.

Can we at least blame a rhyming dictionary for lines like  "Wasn't it a lovely breeze/that swept the leaves of arbor eaves/and bent to brush our blushing knees"? Because I would be appalled if he came up with that on his own and thought it was a good idea.

Back to listening, let's see if I can make it through the reprise of the stupid wanting comes in waves theme.

Well, you've picked a song where Colin himself sings like a donkey, so no wonder...

It's not a mindblowing album for me (at least Crane Wife was, in comparison), but I still can't pick more than 15 albums arguably better than it. Shape of opera > songs individually.

What the hell of a prog year was this? *sob*

Rhyming goes like this: 1 with 2 phonetically, 2 with 3 syllable unit end.

Even genuine folklore doesn't play the straight card with rhymes.

I received the score from Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto earlier today and I don't know what to do with it, because I don't like Rachmaninoff's 2nd PC at all.

It would be one thing if the whole thing was written in heroic couplets, then at least he could fall back on Chaucer being awesome, but all those rhymes out of nowhere is just urk.

Oh no, now I know about Anoaur Brahem and I want to buy that album too.

There is something about The Decemberists that compels me to like them. I do wish he'd stop saying taiga so much though.

And the music rocks.

Oh, no, I just got home and started playing a Squarepusher album; I didn't know his program was on right now.

What track was it, do you know? Did you like it? His stuff is pretty awesome from the few albums I have.

Can't say I've heard that; must be on one of the albums I don't have.

Dang, I need more.

He's now playing a track from Kevin Gilbert.  This is pretty cool.  I really am not familiar with much Kevin Gilbert.
