Gah, I don't get new music enough I guess, plus there are just SO many bands I want to listen to that I've never got even close to getting every album by one single band, except for Led Zeppelin. And yeah, I loved every song they ever did, except for stuff from Coda. But yeah, everyone's mentioned Led Zeppelin on this thread. I'll just reinforce the fact that everything they did was awesome. I mean, it's an opinion and all, but whatevz.

Univers Zero Future Kings Of England
Aranis
Thinking Plague
Pink Floyd were on that list until The Wall & The Final Cut and the post Waters albums. King Crimson are very close but there are bit and pieces that don't quite work perfectly for me, Thrakattack, Beat, TCOL, but then I do have 20+ albums by them.

Not even my most favourite bands do not have a single flaw. I've been racking my brains now in order just to find a single band or artist whose discography I know to full extend and have to say it's all absolutely great... first thing that came to mind was Steely Dan, but then again... I'm not so keen to listen a lot to "Two against Nature" and "Everything must go", so I'd need to draw the line between "old time" and reunion-time. Billy Joel comes close but I think that "An Innocent Man" has been saved by the arrangements where the songs haven't been up to par... World Party come close but I'm not much into "Private Revolution" !
Surprisingly, then, after a while of thinking, I really have found a group who with all of their releases never fail to please me - and that's COCK ROBIN ! But Peter Kingsbery's first solo-album failed to do so. They have just split up at the right time I guess. And I'm very happy with the two albums that came after they reunited. I think they're better than ever.

i'll have to say that king crimson is my most appreciated band i don't like their entire discography but i like about 90% of it which is a lot. i don't think they have a real stincker and i can count on them for good releases , plus i adore the fact that they are always changing , and putting out music just when they have something to say.

No band is without a single piece of music I don't care for, but there are bands I am such a big fan of that no matter what they did, I'd buy their next album. Dream Theater has always been that band for me. But one band that has totally blown me away with every album since their debut (which I believe is only flawed because it was recorded and mixed in a week by the band) is Seventh Wonder. They have completely floored me with their last 3 releases.

I decided not to have a life this afternoon and for some reason got hooked on youtube watching Rush videos. Now, I'm no Rush fanatic but I went through a Rush stage around 2112 and this lasted until Exit stage left, well no the Signals album and I've also seen them about 6 or 7 times. After watching everything from Garden Road from Caress Of Steel to Far Cry from Snakes and Arrows I could relate to all the Rush heads that are here.
I guess Jethro Tull is the band that can do no wrong for me since they have been at it since I started listening to all this wacked out music back in the early 70s. I have every tull album and actually listen to the less popular albums more than say, Minstrel, Aqualung or TAAB. Among my faves are J.Tull.Com, Roots To Branches and Heavy Horses althpough I can listen to the whole JT catologue sraight through ! Yes man, every single track .
So I pose this solemn question :
What' s the band that can do no wrong for you?
|
I'm sorry; I don't think there is such a band, but if I had to give you one (or more):
1. Pink Floyd 2. King Crimson 3. Yes
