SAMLA MAMMAS MANNA — Måltid

Review by doktorhipp

4%20stars Oh yes! Took some time to grasp this fiery blaze of jazzfolkrock. A fine album that never lets you have a rest, here you are bombarded with wild vocal harmonies (they use their vocals as an instrument, really cool synthesizer-like sound!), groovy basslines and timechanges. Buybuybuy!

------ Just seems a bit short and unhelpful

SAMLA MAMMAS MANNA — Klossa Knapitatet

Review by kilgortraut

4%20stars Very inventive music with beautiful melodies and fine aggangements. But what matters more to me is that the guys certainly have a sense of fun! Långt ner i ett kannihål is sure the best track for me here - so many musical ideas within 4 minutes! By the way. I don't know why SMM are considered to be RIO... For me, it's not more RIO than Focus (considering this album that is the only one I've heard

----- I know why they're considered RIO... but when half of the review is devoted to admitting that you don't understand the album completely... and the review's already only 50 words (if that)...

Not really a terribel review, but it is poorly rated. The reviewer gives it 5 stars and say its a great album (of course it is!) but then when he rates the songs individually, it adds up to 49 out of 70. That is just barely over 3 stars. I'm puzzled about his methods?

Anathema has the same two tricks every album. 1.) Find depressed teenagers through depressing music and 2.) Make the attempt at giving them the same thing on every album, every song, and getting them to like it, because they are depressed. Someone tell me how Anathema is progressive? Because they use keyboards? David Bowie has had keyboards. Don't get me wrong though, if you are actually suicidal, depressed, whiney, angry at the world, this band could be for you, but this is the problem: Anathema only goes one way. The one way is of course, all cynical, "I hate god, even though I have money and a job now," "life sucks," Etc.

-----------

I think this is grounds for removal or revision.

I am neither angry at the world, nor depressed, and certainly not suicidal.

Yes, but imagine this being displayed in a review about Yes or Led Zeppelin. I doubt it would stay. I know because I wrote something borderline about Zep and it was gone almost instantly even though there was no formal complaint about it.

YES — Close to the Edge
Review by 2ndtoN0ne (Steve)

5%20stars Perfect. Really no need for anything else. I think everyone said just about everything there is to say about it. I was in absolute amazement the first time I heard it. It's one that truly stands the test of time. Number one album ever in my book.

And, umm, ask him if he'd mind saying, you know, ANYTHING ACTUALLY ABOUT THE ALBUM IN QUESTION!?!?!

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART (AND THE MAGIC BAND) — Trout Mask Replica
Review by ofurglassi
Anyone that claims to enjoy this album is either lying or has such a warped sense of what constitutes good music that he or she should be banned from the archives. Captain Beefheart shows no concern for listenability (or any other kind of ability for that matter) and seems to have been determined to make a totally abyssmal album and then pass it off as art. He was totally successful since countless people have been fooled into thinking this drivel is worth listening to. It should of course come as no surprise that Frank Zappa produced this garbage since he is one of the main offenders in the field of unlistenable music, pumping out album after album of nonsense, only occasionally making something listenable much like his pal Captain Beefheart. I've wasted way to much of my hard earned cash on buying albums made by these two fools.

He goes so far as to insult everyone who enjoys the album. Pooh...

A first review attempt by a new member, unfortunately it doesn't say much about the album (Styx Big Bang Theory). Most is about the how well Dennis DeYoung is doing without Styx.

A Jefferson Airplane review assigned to a Uriah Heep album...

Correct assignment of this review appears two reviews below this one in the last 10.
