The response to this thread is pretty much an embarrassment .

For one: Eloy is neither spacerock nor psychedelic.

Gong, Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles, Can, Clearlight. I know Clearlight are listed under "symphonic", but there definitely is a psychedelic quality to their albums too. And I have argued before that it should be possible to give more than just one label to an artist.

Hi,

Mannnn .,.. I'm getting old or weird!

I don't think of music as psychedelic at all ... because in many ways, what some of these bands do is no different than my dream, or writing space! So, WHY ... WHY ... am I calling my own magic theater something that it ain't ... it's all a part of me, inspired or not by idealistic concepts of what psychedelics are/were!

Well, I can tell you the sex was fun and good!

I can tell you the music sounded better!

I can tell you that musicians thinking they can "describe" one of these experiences are as stupid as I am! And off their rocker like I am! Or worse, trying to make you believe these are "evil" and "bad"!

Did I miss anything?

But the best "magic theater" out there for me? The Doors, Amon Duul 2, Terje Rypdal (early days!), Egberto Gismonti (early days), Klaus Schulze/Cosmic'rs/Ash Ra Tempel/Floating Anarchy ... just a few that I like a lot, but I found them to be way better than drugs ... and much healthier!

The problem with adding drugs to drugs, is that it becomes redundant ... and things like Frank Zappa, sometimes (200 Motels), is an example of the incredible insanity that can confuse you silly and out of it! And, that is one of the reasons why I like it so much! IF, you are centered enough, it will NOT confuse you, because you know where you stand! But many folks are not centered enough ... that they have to copartmentalize it all, in order to make sense of something ... that might not have any sense anyway!

You have to find a way to "know" the difference! Or you are simply stuck in the advertising of the era and supporting it!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
