What were the reasons?

 

I get that the decision is final - I'm interested in the reasons in case they apply to any other band I might want to suggest in the future. (There's a heap of Australian bands that don't seem to have been discussed here yet.)

Please Irrelevant, we know what we do

1.- Crossover rejected them, THAT'S A SIGN THAT THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS PROG RELATED

2.- The three members of teh Symphonic Team, Lazland (with whom we rarely agree, SMURPH (Don't know him), Marty McFly, Andy Webb (Who's opinion I respect) and Sl75 agree they are not Symphonic.

On a general point

As far as I can tell from quick perusal, most of those sites cover hardly any Australian music of the era at all.

 

 

My observation was actually about 'Australian music of the era' (ie the 1970s) - with that qualification, there's only 26 Australian artists 'of the era' on this site so far. Better than most other international sites, but still not exhaustive. Deciding whether or not to include an artist by benchmarking against even less-exhaustive sites doesn't seem helpful.

 

 

I must admit the failure for Chetarca to get a guernsey in either Crossover or Symph surprises me. I have made a point of listening the Chetarca again right now and, other than the use of harmonica here and there (as part of Chetarca's eclecticism), I hear striking similarities to ELP, especially in parts of 'The Oceanic Suite' opus.

To dismiss Chetarca based on the bluesy-ness of a short song like 'Another Day' and the use of some harmonica as part of their soundscape seems a bit like suggesting we dismiss ELP from Symph based on 'Benny the Bouncer' or 'Jeremy Bender'. Is that how I am reading the preceding discussions?

Chetarca's work is not broad -  just the one album - however it is mostly progressive from where I sit. Personally I would have no qualms whatsoever including Chetarca in Symphonic...and would do so before Crossover.

IMO a rethink is really required here 

Chetarca was rejected by Symph and Crossover (In the case of Symph it was unanimous).

Please, it was rejected by the Prog Related Team.

I sent them to PR, I sponsored them, but the Admins (Who's opinion I respect), considered that they were not PR.

The Prognossis AOR reference is plain wrong. I wonder it that could be a mistake on that site?

Just a few of examples all citing that Chetarca fits into the progressive rock category. How many more do we need before something gives way?

Is it time for PA to be progressive and be the first site to grant Chetarca the recognition deserved?
