Quit the caffeine

I actually quite like their songs; they're DEFINITELY not as bad as Simple Plan. I've a sneaking suspicion that a wealthy amount of people who "hate" Greenday are teenagers who spend all of their time trying to be an "anti-conformist."

I love how VH1 and MTV start plugging American Idiot as the first "punk-rock opera". It's disgusting, it really is. They are terrible, they have no musical talent, they are uglier than Steve Howe after he's been run through a meat slicer, but for some reason, people buy this sh*t!

I don't like them or hate them. I do like a few songs though, the classics that most people like, and a few from American Idiot. Like Boulevard, American Idiot, and Holiday.

However, deff. not something I would go out and buy. Even though Green Day is pop/punk they are WAY better than good charlotte, and simple plan, and that s**t. What's the other one? Oh bowling for soup.

And the main singer is creppy looking.

I really enjoyed the first site.

I don't know why anyone who hates Green Day that much would take the time to make an entire site dedicated to it, but it was entertaining.

And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime.
I never said I was frightened of dying.

That's okay. Most younger kids are into simpler and lighter music. Usually that music isnt good at all, but that's just how it goes. Another problem is than nobody wants to promote the good music, what is promoted is the bad music. The tremendous amount of all this pop-punk merchandise just freaks me out

My girlfriend daughter is 13 but she has a pretty independent mind and doesn't care what the popular kids are listening to or if it's on MTV or not.  She used to like Green Day, but now prefers stuff like Damnation by Opeth and Symphony X.

Kids prefer rap and hiphop, and according to her and her friend kids today actually think rock music is boring and is what old people listen to.  Interesting that you mentioned kids prefer lighter music these days.  I guess teens just aren't cool anymore

Another problem is that kids just can't take any song lasting over 5 minutes, no patience whatsoever, and that's a big hurdle to overcome to get them into prog.

by 'lighter' I meant just that. Easier to understand,  not requiring much "getting into"

I'll probably be laughed at for this, but my first "band" was in fact Green Day. To this day I listen to all prog rock, prog-metal, and....Green Day. I can't really explain my fascination with them, though. Sentimental value, perhaps? I do believe that "American Idiot" is a 5-star CD, but in the world of punk, as opposed to the world of prog, which it could barely garner 2 stars. I suppose it's all a matter of perspective. Being a teenager, I do like to listen to the occasional music that I can easily relate to. And i WAS into Green Day before they hit super-stardom recently, and though I don't exactly embrace their newfound position, I still support them 100% and am actually attending my 3rd concert of theirs in September. Every now and then, I find Green Day to be a nice change from prog, the complete oppostie in most ways (altough American Idiot does contain two 9 minute "epics" with 5 sub-sections each ). And as far as Billiie Joe goes, well I love the guy. If you ever have seen him in concert, he's not the big a dude, rather short and skinny actually (like me!) and he has so much freakin' energy that it is near impossible not to have a good time, and I really enjoy that quality in a performer; again, something you will rarely ever get in prog rock concerts nowadays.

So, yeah, I'm a fan, but a proggie at heart I remain

I just recently took my daughter to a Green Day concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion here in Maryland.I was very unfamiliar with the music, was surrounded by thousands of teenagers and felt very out of place, but I have to admit they were very good live.

I tried, the only thing I listen to that my daughter likes is Opeth,Tool and Coheed & Cambria.

My 8 year old son likes Tool(he swears that the lyric in Schism says "I know the pizza's quick" instead of "I know the pieces fit".)And he digs Spock's Beard(when he was few years younger he called them "Stork's Beard")
