Welcome, etc, blah-bi-blah!

Hope you enjoy your time here and discover a whole host of new bands, like I did, as well as talking about those you already love. When this place is good, it's bloody great.

Welcome Unifaun . Try & avoid the patronising male drooling & note how easily a thread becomes a slonging match between old 'friends' lol. All that aside, you wont regret joining this site it is the BEST! Your list of bands is wonderful - if it is exhaustive, then time to seek out Gentle Giant, Early Camel, Early Focus & Steve Hackett solo stuff. Hope you're inclined to stick around!

I like early camel, but i have only heard mirage and that is a really good piece of music. Gentle Giant are amusing. I got a few songs such as knots and i loved the different use of vocals! Wow i love prog! I am kinda new after being introduced to a friend of mine but i have always liked yes, genesis, floyd and crimson but had no idea that they were prog or what prog really was. I have a kinda idea now since they all have similarities in song structure.

Focus sound good, i have only heard this one song which had yodelling in it (sorry if that is vague because they could all have yodelling in as far as i know). It had some cool guitar and was very amusing! I didn't know Steve Hackett had any solo albums!

Hi all:)

I'm also new here. I'm a Swedish man, 42 years old, have listened to good music for about 30 years now (can't believe it myself, how time goes by so fast)! My fav prog-artsist are mainly Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator, Pink Floyd, Camel, Caravan, Mike Oldfield, King Crimson, Kaipa, among many, many others. I also like several other types of music, like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Byrds, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kinks and lots of others (lots of Swedish artists, of course).

Think this is a great site, I've allready posted some, I like to stick my cheak out, as we say in Sweden:) But I never mean no harm:)

Big hugg to u all, regards from, L-O Ström, Sweden

Welcome Lostrom! Nice to see you on here too! My wife and I have friend in Sweden, in Stockholm. We met them on the internet 2001. We have visited them three times. And we are going back to see them again this year. So you like Kaipa? I am thinking of getting Keyholder, the last album from the reformed version of the group. Another Swedish group I like, although they are more like blues than prog, is Eldkvarn. Pluralism and Limbo are both excellent albums. Kent and Fluff are two more bands I like, and Roffe Wikstrom is excellent as well! Oh, and Twin Age and Galleon too! And Simon Says.  It is good to see you on this site, let me know which other Swedish bands you recommend!

Regards, Carl

Unifaun! So you didn't know that Mr Hackett had any solo albums? You are in for a treat then! I won't overwhelm you with them all at the moment, but, as we are both good Genesis fans, you must listen to his debut album, Voyage Of The Acolyte, considered by many as the best album Genesis never did! Superb! However, I believe at least some of his albums are being remastered, so you may wish to wait until they come out before purchasing them! I went to see him on 30th March this year, in Birkenhead, on his acoustic trio tour, with his brother John, on flute, and Roger King on keyboards. Spellbinding stuff! If you get the chance, go and see him! I also saw him back in 1981, at Liverpool Empire. Excellent then as well! You have some wonderful times coming up in getting to know his work!  Regards, Carl

Chessman: What a warm welcome, I bless u:) I definitely think u should by a Kaipa album, but I would recommend the original outfit from the seventies, all three are masterpieces and as I mentioned in my first topic there will be a Box out soon with all three first albums plus unreleased material. And also a brand new album is on it's way:) But of course; Keyholder is also a great album:) I will return with a few other recomendations of Swedish bands including a linik to a fantastic swedish web-site. Cheers friend:)
