Agreed, and I voted for Can, but they're all great.

According to KRAUTROCKGROUP.COM apart from Grobschnitt, Novalis and Eloy are also krautrock. So If Genesis, Camel and Pink Floyd would have been German they would also have been krautrock. I don't think so.

From the real krautrock bands i like Amon duul II especially Wolf city.

the first few albums of Tangerine Dream (at least up to "Zeit", but I would even go as far as "Rubycon" or perhaps even "Stratosfear") are Krautrock. after that they would better be filed under "progressive electronic". anyway, a lot of early Krautrock had electronic influences. just look at Klaus Schulze, Ash Ra Tempe, Achim Reichel, Conrad Schnitzle, the Cosmic Jokers and some albums of Popol Vuh. and of course the solo albums of Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream, of which I highly recommend "Epsilon in Malaysian Pale". even Can and Amon Düül 2 made excursions into that territory (Can with "Aumgn" from their "Tago Mago" album, Amon Düül 2 with "The Marylin Monroe Memorial Church" from "Tanz der Lemminge")

From '69 to '75 Can made some of the most exiting and original music ever. There's nothing like their seven classic albums. Took me some time to really appreciate them. Listen to the 'epic' 'Mother Sky' or everything on the flawless 'Ege Bamyasi' album for proof. Give it some time. Jaki Liebezeit is my favorite drummer.

They still sound so fresh and new.

I also think if Amon Düül II were included in the poll they would probably have taken some of their votes (not mine).

I've heard Can, but no all the bands listed in the poll.

On that list, Can - but I wouldn't classify their music as Krautrock.

Sure they are German, but the music has almost nothing in common with Guru Guru, Neu, Faust et al.

My all-time favourite is Amon Duul II, but I also have a soft spot for the more obscure bands that recorded on budgets, such as Necronomicon, Kaputter Hamster, Tetragon and especially Erlkoenig.

Early Kraftwerk (I and II) is better than all of them, IMO, and is more "Krautrock" than their later material.
The important thing is not to stop questioning.

I disagree; their approach to music may have been different than that of many other Krautrockers, but nevertheless there is something absolutely Krauty to them.

Faust, just ahead of Can. Neu!, Cluster, Harmonia, Popol Vuh, Kraftwerk and early Tangerine Dream are also giants. Krautrock rocks!
