Italian Prog is my favorite sub-genre. I own over 300 RPI modern and classic albums.
My pick from 1973? Area - Arbeit Macht Frei Amazing vocals and as eclectic as you could ask for...in 1973. I adore Area. I like 4/5 of Paul's albums, but I haven't Tripped...yet. Please write a review on your Trip, Paul. I have not heard that one...yet.

That's 300 more Italian prog albums than I own, Cindy. Here's a handy link to all of the albums by the wonder boys of Italian psych if you want to check them out. Enjoy The Trip. 1970: The Trip - The Trip - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mF9Pjx_mnQcTqrd0mqdXHBUKCea5zMIB4 1971: The Trip - Caronte - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9an7QWwrizQ 1972: The Trip - Atlantide - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLn6IUYFGu6PKiFF7e-iRgpLVeIKo-EtbZ 1973: The Trip - Time of Change - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kphQpYDSzug 2021: The Trip - Caronte 50 Years Later - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nKZFPp9DEMiajb6ZjGEUzZN9xjhzgewls 2023: The Trip - Now the Time Has Come - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mVHcnWtWNA-WxyMZ7UTj0cNwD8edH9Jhw The Trip have now replaced Jacula as my favourite Italian band of all time - with Novecento running a pretty close third.

I like Jacula. My favorite sub-genre of Italian Prog is the horror-leaning species of terror tunes. Nobody does horror prog as well as the Italians.

Three favourites here, very unique albums, all together alphabetically - Area, Banco, and Franco Battiato. Vote for Battiato, but gutted to vote against the other two.
I saw The Trip live three years ago by the way, but wasn't quite sold on them. On the same event Banco were playing, and one year later Rovescio della Medaglia. Last year I saw Patrizio Fariselli's Area Open Project performing Arbeit Macht Frei. Still on stage in Italy all these.

Le Orme's Felona e Serona is the first Italian Symphonic Prog album that I fell in love with. BdMS was an early-for-me discovery which I loved. Area soon became a favourite of mine. Love Perigeo. Dedalus is excellent. Zarathustra is another fave... That said, I knew for sure that I would go with Franco Battiato's Sulle Corde di Aries. That is a super-special album to me, and I think that it is one of the greatest highlights of both the Italian scene and of our archives. And it's one of those albums that grew on me more and more over years. I wonder how the ratings might change if one returned to these albums years later (instead of being based on first impressions)?

Perhaps I don't now as many as I should, but there are three here that I absolutely love. Felona e Sorona, Inferno, and Zarathustra. Still, if I have to choose one out of those three, it would be Inferno.
