Question: Several of you indicated that you quit smoking weed, why did you? I am interested in this phenomenon of deciding to quit smoking weed forever.

So why did you? What was your thought process? What were the drawbacks? Please be specific. Thanks!

I quit smoking weed when my first child was born(I was 25),just didn't feel like trying to raise a family with a buzz on,I didn't think it would be fair to my daughter or my wife(who doesn't smoke weed).Plus I was getting tired of getting stoned.

The only drawbacks were I was so used to getting stoned all the time I associated a lot of things with it.We always used to catch a buzz before watching a movie, before playing video games, before going out, before going to a concert, etc. So after I quit it felt weird to do those things straight.Stuff like that, purely psychological.

It didn't really save on any money because I never bought weed,me and all my friends grew it.

After getting it all out of my system I wake up with more energy,it is easier to get through my day...blah blah blah.I just felt a lot better after I quit.

I stopped completely from the late 80's to the early 90's because it did not bring me anymore joy, I also had changed continent (it is really tough to share a joint in Europe if you do not smoke tobacco even with grass, they always put the equivalent of a ciggie with the Mary Jane) and I did not feel like it.

Marijuana is not addictive physically but it can be psychologically (mentally), but my experience proved that you can stop it if you want, and you do not have to really make an effort. I started again in 92 but sporadically and really enjoyed it , then now I smoke maybe three times a month and it is because I want to and not because I need to.

keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

You should try vaporization.

it's so much healthier and tastier. And the high is different (better)
