I remember a "study" a very conservative Christian group did a few years back to prove the decline of religious knowledge among schoolchildren.
They had portraits of various people (George Washington, Jessica Simpson, and other famous faces) and would show the pictures to kids and ask them to identify the person. The kids got a bunch of the historical ones and most of the celebrities, but when they showed them this:

Almost all of the children had no idea who it is. "See?" the studiers cried. "Our kids don't even know Jesus when they see him!"
Well, frankly, I don't know who the guy in the picture is either. Like when people claim to see Jesus's face in their Chicken McNuggets or their Rice Krispies, I wonder, "How do they know what Jesus even looked like? He walked the earth before cameras, and I don't know anyone ever did a portrait of the man."
Just a funny little observation.

well i don't totally agree. that painting is done by the rules of realistic painting, showing nothing of christ's divine nature; it's only depicting the image of a very human presence, with very little of the traditional canon of christ representations. i think the children would have had more chances to recognize christ if they were shown these images: etc, etc

Swan, that wasn't my point at all.
I was merely remarking that to say "He looks like Jesus" is silly because the speaker has not seen Jesus, and therefore does not know what Christ looks like.
Most of the depictions of Jesus don't even have him as a Middle Easterner.

^Just about every race has got their "true" image of Jesus. I've seen portraits of Asian Jesus and black Jesus.

Sorry to break it down ( ), but the Inquisition is on its way, with Cardinal Dean and his "Improved Auto-Censora(e) bull". Nice pics up there... ...uhm, I haven't made new pics of myself in almost 6 months!

it's a real shame that they weren't able to get you that face in time for those photos... I can just imagine the kids at school: "Hey black-hole face! How's your non-existant face!?" or "Hey censor-face! Was your face so ugly that the powers that be had to blank out your face to keep out eyes from burning?" or even "No-face, No-face, doesn't have a faaa-aaace!" kids can be so cruel.

I'm just instantly thinking Rick Wakeman, without the face.

Oh, you're right! Maybe Abstrakt is actually Oliver Wakeman?

Why not Alexander Wakeman, the Wakeman relative that finally reveals himself?

Good point. I'm sure, like his albums, Rick has a lot of children that people don't know about
