Thanks for this - I like it! Here is a fairly new prog group from Spain, Glasswork, and I have been enjoying their recent release, Fear and Trembling. Also the new release by Norwegian group Soup, Remedies, this time around the music leans towards post-rock but still very good. I haven't seen it mentioned on PA yet, but the first single of the new Anathema album The Optimist is out and it sounds good. |

Unfortunately Svetonio has been banned from PE now too! He's still posting his updates at progforums.com http://tinyurl.com/SvetonioLatest |

Svetonio is obviously passionate about his progressive rock and spends a lot of time researching new releases as well as categorising them, which I found very useful to quickly check out new music and I collected quite a few new bands that I would not have heard without his help. Unfortunately it seems his forum etiquette annoyed others hence the bans, but for me anyway his banishment is a loss as we lose one source of locating new music, so thanks for the link above for progforums. There is another chap 'windhawk' who does something similar on this site in the blogs subforum but his postings aren't as curated as Svetonio's and seems to include a lot of non prog stuff so harder to sort through. In this thread I'm posting every couple of weeks the best music I have recently found so that others with similar tastes might pick up on, typically only about 10% of new songs I'm adding to my daily playlist.

Unfortunately Svetonio seems to be a complete arsehole which rather tarnishes his rep just about everywhere he goes. I know there are some members here who only come to visit threads like these and probably only know him from a recommendation-point-of-view, but the rest of us who frequent PA on a daily basis had to endure this Edit: thankfully someone since has removed some of the more despicable comments and pics he posted. How does one replace Svetonio? Go to the bandcamp website and search for progressive rock. Tadah! Now you get all his recs without the obnoxious vile. Edited by Guldbamsen - May 09 2017 at 04:08 |

How about this. You guys are lucky to have the freaking internet. Back in the 70s we had something called a record store where long haired freaky people would hang out and the owner of the store would actually know something about music. Aircraft is a US Navy DC-3 that crashed in November 1973 after it ran out of fuel. Everyone survived and it was just left there for farmers to pick through.

Never said I didn't like King Crimson, just have not heard much of their music. PhideauxFan, +1 for Bjorn Riis's new album, one of the better releases this year.

Now, his album is number 2 of my top albums of 2017. And I've got many albums of 43 artists you mentioned in the list. |

My prog playlist(s) have expanded significantly since I first posted this about 4 years back when I first joined this community. A lot of my favourites I have posted in this thread. I think Bjorn / Airbag is what Pink Floyd would be if they were still around fronted by David Gilmour. In fact I definitely prefer Bjorn / Airbag to David's later solo stuff. Bjorn's last album is also a favourite. 2017 Releases from This Winter Machine, Glasswork, Meridian Incident, Branch Arterial, The Aurora Project, Big Big Train are top of my playlists so far (some of these you introduced me to ) and I expect the new Anathema will be there as well. What is your #1? Edited by deandob - May 25 2017 at 17:04 |

^^ I also prefer Bjorn Riis' albums. I am not a fan of "new" music produced by the dinosaurs of the 70's.
Number 1 of my top 2017: Exquirla - Para Quienes Aun Viven.

Some nice post rock vibes on that album but also a lot of wailing in Spanish (almost middle-eastern). If you like Spanish bands I do recommend the latest album from Glasswork.
