But why the silly part on The Sleepwalkers?

BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME!

/fanboyism.

1. so they can take the very menacing, aggressive twist on the basic rhythm (perhaps to reflect the song's theme - the innocence of Sleepwalking with its creepy, psychological 'who's in control' aspects).
2. because it's fun. I don't feel Van Der Graaf Generator have a really pretentious or overly serious edge; they don't seem to mind throwing in odd ideas at a whim (note the 'eeee' from Lemmings), and I honestly have never had even a tiny problem with its presence

I prefer JD's answer. It feels like a sore thumb to me.

Give me your alternatives. I have the same problem, so pick one of from my list:

Supertramp - Crime Of The Century
Akt - Dentrokirtos
VdGG - Godbluff
The Tangent - Not As Good As The Book
Semiramis - Dedicato A Frazz

I know 2 of those, because the others look modern or Italian. Hence, I'll vote: Crime Of The Century.

Hm. 5 options

Ashes Are Burning - Renaissance
Three Of A Perfect Pair - King Crimson
Strange Days - The Doors
Drama - Yes
Days Of Futrure Passed - The Moody Blues

Still not sure I'm quite ready to review the new Italian stuff. It's mostly that the second sides haven't caught on much.

I want a Drama review then. Been curious about it for quite some time now.
