He is posting from Maine, USA (mostly from the northern region of that state near the Canadian border ). He normally posts between the hours of 10 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon and most of his posts are on a Thursday (with the exception of those posted over the Xmas holidays, which were posted over a single weekend from in or near Portland southern Maine). To me that is suggestive of a student (possibly at the University of Maine, Fort Kent) with a free period on Thursdays.
There are gaps of less than 10 minutes between reviews that are posted on the same day which indicates he either writes them in advance or writes them quickly. The sentence syntax is not indicative of a transliterated, translated or transcribed foreign language, nor is the vocabulary used - I believe the only practical explanation is that they are constructs made to look foreign. They are not in the slightest bit funny, but I suspect he finds our reaction to them as being hugely amusing, and that, I suggest, is their sole purpose.
Can we ignore this guy now?

So not worth deleteing the account because another one will simply be made and he/she will start again?
If so, I'll stop caring - I don't have to read them, and if they aren't in breech of ay rules then ignoring might be best

That is impressive sleuthing Dean!
Ash, I'm with you...I would nuke the guy instantly along with a bunch of other reviewers who post nonsense more for a reaction than to benefit readers. These kinds of reviews reflect poorly on the site as a resource, even if they are amusing. I would offer to be quality control if they'd hand me the nukes, but that'll never happen ![]() |

I think he's trying to express through his incoherence, perhaps, something he can't quite put in words about his feelings towards the music.
Just kidding, he's bonkers |

I was recently discussing with a moderator about the possibility of me becoming a Prog Reviewer, but I'm unable to without rewriting 200+ of my old, short, bad reviews that I started out with, which is an insane proposition honestly, but it's entirely my own fault for being such a crap reviewer.
But the discussion also pointed out that some collaborators and PRs also have short, uninformative reviews that aren't really worth putting in the featured "Collaborators/Experts Reviews" column and only serve the purpose of putting collaborators higher on the most prolific reviewers list. I was thinking that since reviews are not published unless they meet the minimum requirement of 100 characters, perhaps a change could be made to not place collaborator/prog reviewer reviews in the featured columns unless they meet a minimum character requirement of, I dunno, maybe 300. All reviews, collab or not, would be published in the side column instead of the featured spot. This would give people who started out writing bad reviews but were able to grow in composition style, like myself, to be able to earn our deserved promoted positions without going through the ridiculous process of rewriting or deleting large amounts of review work. Still, non-collab and non-PR reviews would stay in the side column unless the user is promoted. The above rule is only designed for users under collab or PR status. Based on the limited knowledge of computer programming that I have, it seems like it would be an easily implemented argument. What do you think? ------------------------------------ My description is convoluted so I thought I'd chart what I mean. All non-collab/PR reviews = side column Collab/PR reviews & not 300 characters = side column Collab/PR reviews & 300 characters = "Collaborators/Expert Reviews" column EDIT: I am NOT suggesting that reviews are deleted.

I think that sounds incredibly reasonable. They should also not be weighted fully (20x or whatever it is) unless they are that length, IMO.

I would agree with this too, most of my early reviews are vomit.

The problem with this suggestion is that many reviews of singles or EPs simply don't need 300+ words. So that would be an issue. |

I think also some of my recent reviews are vomit...it may depend on what I had for breakfast, but I don't think a word count is the best metric.

Well, how many reviews does an EP or single need?
True, but even 300 character bad reviews are typically more informative and substantial than good 100 character reviews.

Also, the character count minimum could easily be altered between discography categories.

True to the word count argument. I personally think your reviews are a perfect length and appropriately informative

I think that's a moot and strange question to pose. How many reviews does any album "need?" Albums' rankings in the charts have a lot to do with not just the rating, but with the number of ratings. |

I'm not sure that we should implement any sort of "classification" concerning length in regards to reviewing. A short review can be terrific, and I am quite jealous of those who can pull them off. I certainly can't..
BUT and that is a big but, I do think you deserve to be prog reviewer Alan. As I have told you, I really enjoy reading your writings. |
