I would happily just accept that as a prog song but I suppose its massive exposure means it's also pop.

I vote for Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or Tangerine Dream's 'Loved by the Sun'. Although, 'Learning to Fly' and 'Whiter Shade of Pale' are great examples too, imo.

Probably already mentioned, but Genesis' Follow You Follow Me screams Pop-Prog.
Some early-80's Renaissance tunes, later Grobschnitt, Asia, I even find the odd Buggles tune Pop-Prog. Where classy musicianship and clever arrangements are concerned, there are many interesting results. |

screams just 'pop' to me and at the time the band saw it as their most 'hip' song. Duke on the other hand is full of pop prog , almost the whole album and its well delivered. They along with Supertramp mastered the art of this and at almost the same time (imo)

Too many to choose however in terms of pop even if some might dismiss and snob this track, I love it really and one of these days even Dark Elf, will like this track too and dance the polonaise with me here

To be fair, nothing is progressive anymore, all has been done really, rarely something is unique, we classify prog as complex and great instrumentals, a beautiful cohesive listening experience, moozik with many overflowing interesting layers.
However, laugh at me as you will, but this pop song is brilliant, different and has great instrumentation ![]() Do not dismiss it pls, do have a listen, now imagine if one would try to play this? ![]() dexys midnight runners come on Eileen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc-P8oDuS0Q ![]() |

There are so many I could mention, but for today I'm going Italiano style with my main man Lucio Battisti.

Best prog-pop? Difficult to say....pop songs with a hint of prog...or prog songs with more accessible melodies that you could have imagined making mainstream radio playlists/TV shows if the powers that be were more willing to broaden their choices.

.....of course, 'Marillion' had a great run of singles in the 80's which might squeeze into the 'prog-pop' category due to them being so damn catchy ('Market Square Heroes' through to 'Incommunicado' etc. and maybe even 'Hooks in You' too!). It's a shame that a radio friendly version of 'Corners' by IQ didn't get a chance to shine at the time.

I did think of mentioning Northern Lights, except that it's pretty much straight up pop, and very good pop at that. Pity they couldn't achieve that in later albums.
My favourite prog-pop song, if there's such a thing, is Tom Sawyer. So proggy and yet so catchy and accessible.
