Ummm...this is probably the only time in the history of mankind that Dexys Midnight Runners will ever described as "prog". I don't hear it. I don't see it. And the rolled-up bib overalls were tacky looking even in the 80s. The song is catchy, granted. It has violins, granted. It is not prog, however. The Pogues were more prog, and that's even funny for me to say.

The intro of 'West End Girls' by Pet Shop Boys always reminds me of Hawkind circa 'Warrior'.

The outro of ELO's 'Mr Blue Sky' is stunning prog bombast.

From the avant garde end of prog came The Flying Lizards with 'Money'
