I have never used so many times the word Mellotron in a review, Verslibre, 7 times in a relative short review

Today I got the news from a friend that indeed Retro 2 has been released recently so we have to hurry Verslibre
This evening I had goose bumps during Netherworld their instrumental epic entitled Cumulo Nimbus Part 3 (on the Musea CD release), what a wonderful choir-Mellotron waves

In the booklet of the compilation "The Moody Blues: Gold" I read that Michael Pinder was employed in the factory that built the Mellotron! Here because the Mellotron was so very worn from the Moody Blues! Here because it was a custom Mellotron outside in all series!
So THE MOODY BLUES is my Melloron band!!! |

 oy, the cover blends right in

...hey it's a good Sunday afternoon-nap record. I think some people are put off by the lack of soloing and of course there's very little convential use of drums. The opening track would be too pastoral for even a PFM album, but compared to the rest of the Celeste album, it comes off like a rocker ....but that's exactly why I love it. The mellotron waves on the second track send chills up my spine, it sounds like their tribute to ItCotCK.

In this moment I am listening to for the first time "Headline News" by Atomic Rooster ("Rebel With A Clause" package) ... If Crane instead of the Hammond (?) had used the Mellotron... Oh my God!!!

I am a huge Atomic Rooster fan since many years, I love the late Vince Crane his exciting Hammond organ solos and the powerful guitar, great Heavy Prog

A big hand for the MELLOTRON !!

A few months ago I read about this CD in a review by Roger Silva (thanks!). It was a very short one but the word Mellotron was used several times so I immediately ordered this CD. Well, it is one of the most Mellotron drenched albums I have ever heard and I often got the idea that bands like Anglagard and Anekdoten must have been inspired by this German trio because of the sound of the mighty Trons, incredible! Don't expect elaborate compositions or complex arrangements, the emphasis is on the Mellotron (played by Eduard Schicke and Gerd Fuhrs) featuring wonderful layers, some splendid, very dramatic build-up pieces and bombastic eruptions. The haunting atmosphere in Dialog reminds me of early King Crimson and Seventies Italian prog, very compelling with ominous violin-Mellotron, biting electric guitar and furious drumming. The magnum opus is Modimidofre (almost 30 minutes) delivering excellent mellotron parts although at some moments the music sounds a bit fragmentic. Along the Mellotron (lots of violin but also some majestic choir) we can enjoy keyboards like the Fender Rhodes electric piano and the Moog synthesizer, exciting Fripperian guitar play and adventurous and propulsive drum work. A MUST FOR EVERY TRON-MANIAC BUT THE UNIQUE PROG BY SFF DESERVES MORE ATTENTION!
