Nice stuff back in 80s (I'd noticed Masami Tsuchiya because he'd performed great crazy solo guitars for the band Japan)

Petrichor (2016) by Dani Lee Pearce: https://danileepearce.bandcamp.com/album/petrichor After making several instrumental electronic albums marked by unconventional, prog-inspired rhythms and song structures, Dani Lee Pearce released this epic concept album based around abstract fantasy and sci-fi themes, with songs ranging from dreamy pastoral soundscapes to majestic prog-rocking tunes. She has since moved on to producing synthy indie pop music (which I still like a lot but doesn't quite belong in this forum section), but Petrichor still stands as one of my all-time favourite albums and, in my opinion, one of the most criminally underrated prog works of the past decade.

Panicphobia - Handle With Care, Might Panic (EP 2008) Panicphobia were a band consisting of some studio mates I had at musicology. I think they started as a King Crimson cover band, and I guess you can hear that from time to other. Their music is sometimes very quirky :) Musicians from the band also played on some songs I wrote and recorded in 2008-12. Edited by The Anders - April 19 2020 at 13:31 |

Just felt compelled to log in and say that Bill Laswell's new album, Against Empire, is one monster of a progressive fusion album. Honestly, I hadn't been following his output for the last 20+ years, but I love where he's at now!
Btw, is there a viable fusion thread in these forums that I'm missing? 1. Golden Spiral 11:20 2. Tabu 16:16 3. Shadowline 15:05 4. The Seven Holy Mountains 17:56 Bill Laswell: bass, effects Pharoah Sanders: saxophone Peter Apfelbaum: saxophone, flute, keyboards Herbie Hancock: electric piano Jerry Marotta: drums Chad Smith: drums Hideo Yamaki: drums Satoyasu Shomura: drums Adam Rudolph: percussion |

And if you can't be with the prog you love, honey, love the prog you're with.

The last studio Deerhoof is great but I guess everyone knows them !
Deluge Grander's Heliotians esp tracks 2 and 3. The first 6 minutes of Reverse Solarity are among the very best prog I know, the hardcore of "cool" as how I define it ! https://delugegrander.bandcamp.com/track/saruned https://delugegrander.bandcamp.com/track/reverse-solarity Edited by jayem - August 22 2020 at 06:04 |
