Daughter Alex is going to Withering Temptation on Tuesday and may be coming with me to Lydney if I can finish work in time. Wife Debs has a parents evening where she has to say nice things about students to their parents so won't be coming with us... I think, you're confusing me now. Who's Sam? |
I thought I'd got my story right....
anyway, Withering Temptation about sums it up, along with Sirenia and After Forever...the sort of bands my sister listens to....
...I think they're OK for the first 3 listens...then I'm completely bored by the lack of imagination or complexity in the music....

Alas, I agree.... apart from Tristania, who can still produce a bit of originality, and my "old" band (who I know didn't impress you much, but I don't hold grudges.... not for too long anyway )

^^ no worries Jared , no insult delivered so none taken... you stated somewhere that you didn't see anything in them beyond the Goth, which I found amusing as we had six years of listening to tru-Goths telling us we weren't gothic.
I wasn't in the band, I was their manager for a while and co-produced the debut album, of which I am mighty proud.

ah...now it makes sense... ..actually, I had no idea about your connection...
I'm actually not the best person to judge what's Goth and what's not... I generally tend to go on the basis that if they are depressingly suicidal, dressed in black, sing about cobwebs and sound anything like the music my sister listens to (eg Paradise Lost), then they are probably Goth... although I do appreciate there is a sizeable, more recent Goth-Lite movement, which she tends to sneer at... maybe Season's End are one of these???

How to make friends and influence people... I'm not the biggest fan of Within Temptation either, but one must please the missus. Besides, she's attending Riverside with me. I'll be cringing Tuesday and she'll be cringing Thursday. All is fair! Dean, I meant Alex, not Sam. My memory is slipping. I doubt Alex will spot me and I doubt I'll spot her, but if we do happen to bump into each other, it would be a complete coincidence. My mate Mark is also seeing WT apparently, so maybe I'll spot him there. If Alex comes on Thursday, she may well recognise me though.

fair enough... However, I guess you will suffer more but we can do almost everything for women, can't we? I'm close to convincing my girl to come to Riveriside-Camden... but I don't want to freak her out...

Actually, she didn't dislike Riverside that much when I played SLS the other week. She used to like Marillion and she likes her metal, so they she doesn't hate them. So yes, I'll suffer more, but I'll just look at Sharon den Adel wiggle about on stage (I saw them at Download Festival, so I know she does wiggle ). I've no idea what Mariusz Duda looks like, so I don't know if Nicky will be ogling him or not. By the way, I'm in Camden Tuesday, as we're popping there before going to Brixton. Hopefully I'll be able to find a nice hat, or cravat.

So, what's the meeting arrangements? I plan to go to Lydney between 6 and 7, hopefully. I'm leaving Swindon in the early afternoon.
I shall probably park the car as near to the venue as possible as well.

That's about the size of it... Andy and I should be there (tomorrow's hospital visit, willing) just after 6pm, and shall also park as close to the venue as possible... see you there, then??

Yes indeed. I know what Andy looks like, but not you... so stick together! Are you likely to wander off to a PH of your choosing? If so, I won't be able to find you.

Alex is going to Withering Temptation with her friend who looks not unlike Avril Lavigne if you don't know what Avril Lavigne looks like, or nothing like her if you do (that actualy makes sense if you met her, Alex's friend, not Avril Lavigne...). The chances of me describing Alex over an open internet connection are slim to none, so if you see someone with a person who may or may not look like Avril Lavigne who you think you may have seen in Swine Town, then that's probably not her.
Anyhoo - the Lydney Town Hall bar opens at 7 and I'm only permitted I drink for the entire evening, so as long as they serve real beer I doubt I'll be going to a PH first, I also susspect I won't I'll get there as early as 6 o'clock anyway (assuming...blah blah blah)
