PA and Wiki are both right, really. I definitely have no problem with Paul’s use of the “fourth” Cardiacs’ album as their first, as the three before had no formal release or distribution that I’m aware of, unless you picked them up at a gig. I wouldn’t necessarily agree with Wiki calling them demo albums, and think perhaps fan-only releases might be more accurate. But in a very real sense, their fourth release was effectively their debut album for most people. It makes sense to me, that that would be the one Paul used for his poll.

You can always change the soup to something you like, but be careful if it's a thicker soup. It has the same effect as filling up a washing machine with 25 pairs of jeans. Your washer will need a seat belt to keep it from wandering around the room.

Would you Adam & Eve it? I really like this debut from Roine Stolt & Co, despite being unimpressed by The Flower Kings previously. Hug

Don't waste your time listening to this tuneless punk dross. It's so bad, it's not even worth taking the time to post an album link or video. Guapo? It sounds more like guano. It's no surprise that no one voted for Towers Open Fire in the poll.  It's the worst album I've heard since Therion's dreadful Death Metal debut, although with my somewhat bizarre tastes in music, some may wear it as a badge of honour that I don't like the album. Tongue

The place to start with Guapo is their 5th album 5 Suns that is a modern masterpiece, their early albums aren't representative of their later sound.

From the ridiculously bad yesterday, to the sublimely good today. Are You Sitting Comfortably? Then let's begin with IQ's  auspicious debut: Tales from the Lush Attic. which I've been listening to with increasing Frequency just lately. Up until joining ProgArchives, Neo Prog was as much of a mystery to me as the mysterious Dark Matter permeating the universe. In The Wake of listening to all of IQ's  superb albums though (with the exception of the inferior Nomzamo album), IQ gradually broke down my Resistance to Neo Prog. If you wonder how good Genesis might have been in the 80's if Peter Gabriel had remained with the band, then IQ are the perfect example, with singer Peter Nicholls sounding remarkably like Gabriel at times. Many modern prog bands have sunk without trace in the deep blue  Subterranea, or fallen by the wayside on The Road of Bones, but IQ have gone from strength to strength to become quite possibly one of the best Neo Prog bands Ever!  Smile

Magenta is an extra-spectral colour and Magenta are an extra-special band. Magenta are Neo Prog Legends, or so they claim in their 2017 release, "We Are Legend". The two founder members of Magenta - singer Christina Booth & keyboardist Rob Reed - had a colourful past as former members of Welsh band, Cyan. Magenta may have arrived two decades too late for the Neo Prog Revolution, but they've more than made up for lost time by making their first album "Revolutions" a double album, and very good it is too.  Thumbs Up

MOSTLY AUTUMN: THE LAST BRIGHT LIGHT in the renaissance era of modern British prog, who shine as brightly as a beautiful WHITE RAINBOW. It's still mostly spring here in England, but I'm looking forward to Mostly Autumn, in THE SPIRIT OF AUTUMN PAST before THE LAST BRIGHT LIGHT of summer fades away. FOR ALL WE SHARED together on ProgArchives, Mostly Autumn still remain my favourite band in SIGHT OF DAY. Here's THE STORY SO FAR..... The band were formed in York, North Yorkshire in 1995 by band leader Bryan Josh on vocals and guitar, Iain Jennings on keyboards, and with Heather Findlay joining the band on vocals for the recording of their first album in 1997. There are currently seven members of Mostly Autumn, but there are no PASSENGERS in this band, with each individual member contributing to instilling their diverse music with a rich and full sound. Their beautiful albums of Progressive Rock are as sparklingly effervescent as a bright WHITE RAINBOW, and are best-described as being like music DRESSED IN VOICES in a HEART FULL OF SKY. Mostly Autumn's diverse songs can be as delicate as GLASS SHADOWS reflected like STORMS OVER STILL WATER,  or as unrelentingly powerful as a runaway train. This versatile band of merry minstrels can just as easily perform MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE LORD OF THE RINGS as classic songs from PINK FLOYD REVISITED, or even music bathed in scintillating strings with THE GHOST MOON ORCHESTRA. Mostly Autumn are  STILL BEAUTIFUL LIVE and who can forget THAT NIGHT IN LEAMINGTON Spa back in 2010 when Heather Findlay gave her last live performance before Olivia Sparnenn joined the band on vocals. The band are still going strong today with their latest exceptional album Graveyard Star released in 2021, so who knows what THE NEXT CHAPTER may bring in the continuing story of Mostly Autumn. Smile

American singer Neal Morse is a man of many bands. Most notably, Spock's Beard (an entirely logical choice for fans of American Neo Prog) ; the multi-national super-group, Transatlantic; the Beatles' tribute band, Yellow Matter Custard; the American super-group, Flying Colors (featuring former Dream Theater drummer Mike Pornoy); the Neal Morse Band with their very impressive debut featured below; and most recently, D'Vigillio, Morse & Jennings with their 2022 album "Troika".
