"White Hammer". They blended historical fantasy with arranged melodic balladry and classic rock-n'-roll very well. What a chemistry. And then there is the second section.
"Pilgrims" just doesn't blow me away. The climaxes do not sound strong enough.

This is another band i've thought about giving a listen too as well,i see lots of folks on here are into them..A few years i bought some VDGG LPs at a yard sale for pennies & put them on Ebay without giving them a listen, maybe i messed up? They bought good money.I actually sell LPs on Ebay alot, have been for years.I don't guess i'll vote in this poll, not knowledgeable enough too...yet.

Octopus!!!
Hang on a minute. Are we talking the one from Aerosol or the bonus track from H to He (Squid 1/Squid 2/ Octopus)? I voted for the latter. I forgot about the squid thang in the name Kinda weird that one of alltime fave Van Damme tracks originally was left off the record.

I think the OP meant the one from the 1969 debut, given that the tracks are listed in a chronological order.

Tough choice between Octopus and White Hammer. I'll go with the 'Malleus Maleficarum'

Emperor in His War Room. The imagery in the lyrics gets me every time.
"You think that you can hold the searing molten gold in your finger, but it slips through, tearing tendons as it goes, exposing the white of a knuckle. Flesh and metal forming letters in the mould."
"Ghosts betray you, ghosts betray you. In the night they steal your eye from its socket, and the ball hangs fallen on your cheek."
