I used to go on this website all the time six or seven years ago. But I took a long break and only started checking back again recently... I remember just when I left the proto-prog categories were being debated and finally added, and lots of new and classic old bands were added.
Honestly, when I checked in again, I expected to see Daft Punk on the website. I know they're reputation is strictly electro, but the ingenuity of their songs should be enough to place them as progressive. Have you heard their latest album? It's full of proggy songs like this one, with vocals reminiscent of Gentle Giant.
This undeniably futuristic, dynamic music
And if that doesn't convince you, this complex, fusion-esque tribute to Giorgio Moroder should in itself be enough to justify Daft Punk on the website.
Also, check out their live shows, Alive 2007, where the songs are seamlessly integrated into long, fluid and epic pieces. This is an example of 'prog' disguised as Dance or whatever you consider them to be. They proved in their last album that their attitude is as prog as that of the greats of the 70s. Listen to their newest album and see. If Kraftwerk is considered prog (and of course it is), by this point, so should Daft Punk.

I don't know if it's a joke or not but if anyone is vaguely curious, those are actually the three best songs on the album. The last two are indeed kinda quasi-proggy; fusion fans would enjoy the last few minutes of the last vid.

Daft Punk is great electro/funk band but I think that this suggestion is a very unacceptable for many members of PA, and also the music is pretty much commercial ...
