I really like Hidria Spacefolk
if you've never heard them  They have a lot of similarities with Ozric Tentacles

That's a good reference. Excellent Spacerock from Hungary. I think these guys just released a new album if i'm not mistaken.
I picked Nebelnest again. I just love that dark, heavy sound with mellotron. Reminds me of Guapo's Five Suns and Anekdoten too.

I'm going to vote for Hoyry-Kone, even though I've only heard it once and don't own it (yet).  I listened on Grooveshark and was mightily impressed, but it seems very hard to locate the CD nowadays.

I'd normally vote for Magma, but since Wurdah Itah is one of my lesser favorites from the band, I thought I'd give another band the honors.

Ditto but they are from Finland not Hungary (though the 2 nations are somewhat related!)
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

By the way the next poll for this section is the start of more well known albums. We're half way through G-N.

Might we see some Loverboy in the next round? Big smile

This is really a great list John. I always liked Gomorrha's second but it's not my favorite. So I'm actually between Nova Express which is my favorite by the band, and Bebe Godzilla. Hmmm...

Patrick Gauthier it is then. It is quite obscure even for those who likes Zehul. Absolutely a beautiful album.

I know only Wurdah Itah and the Symbiosis. I go for the first
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I owned one of their cassettes in the eartly eighties, the girlfriend was a big fan. She was probably attracted to those red leather pants the lead singer wore.Dead  Actually i just looked it up and i had the debut. Somehow the song "Lady Of The Eighties" doesn't seem as relevant as it was back then.

Thanks and i agree with your comments on Gautier's first solo record.  There's a list of musicians helping him out that is as long as my arm. Gautier played keyboards with Magma, Heldon and Weidorje and we almost get the complete bands from those groups helping out including all of Weidorje. Vander, Paganotti, Bertram and Widemann from Magma and four guys from Heldon including Pinhas who helped mix, engineer and produce it while also playing guitar.
Oh and i'm glad you mentioned Gomorrha a Heavy Prog band out of Germany. This is their second album released on the Brain label and produced by Conny Plank. Really good stuff.

I actually just ordered the H Spacefolk album so I shouldn't vote til I get a chance to listen to it. But I quite like City Of Mirrors, and just may have to fold and vote for it. Tongue

Wurdah Itah is great of course as well.

I'm glad you mentioned City Of Mirrors. A project of U-Totem's James Grigsby this is such an adventerous and interesting release. This was inspired by Big Band leader Stan Kenton from the USA who pushed the envelope back in the Swing era forties with his massive 40 piece band who performed a piece called City Of Glass which was unique back in the day. James has a 14 piece band here including flautist and vocalist Emily Hay as well as Dave Kerman on percussion. Even the cover art takes us to that period in the forties.

True, but Lovin' Every Minute of It and Working For The Weekend are always relevant. LOL

Spooky moment

Motor Totemist Guild - really like this one, anything with Grigsby & Kerman is good in my book.

I just got the Hidria Spacefolk last week and haven't had the chance to listen to it yet.

That Patrick Gauthier album was one of my early loves in the Zeuhl universe.  I have most of these albums, but it came down to the Christian Vander/ Magma album and Patrick Gauthier's in the end.  I voted for Wurdah Itah.  I really love that album.  It's one of my very favourite Christian Vander albums.

I'm going for Nebelnest this time, though I still haven't managed to hear the Motor Totemist Guild yet.
