Hola! Welcome to the site! This is a great place to find new music, I should know!! And I thoroughly respect your love of MB (Moody Blues), they are one of the reasons I love prog and found this site.

This really isn't a site for prog experts as much as for fans and a resource to explore.  Also probably best not to force anything on your wife to be.  There is such a thing as a great wife who doesn't really like prog. Big smile
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Nice to have you Ian.  Acronyms?  You got it - -

APP :  A Passion Play
ATotT :  A Trick of the Tail
ATTWT :  And Then There Were Three
BSS :  Brain Salad Surgery
CttE :  Close to the Edge
TaaB :  Thick as a Brick
TFTO :  Tales From Topographic Oceans
TPtB :  The Power to Believe

There are several others, and oddly you don't see much of TLLDoB (The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, usually just shortened to "Lamb" or "The Lamb"),  IaGH (In a Glass House, often just "Glass House"), or TSWoH8 (The Six Wives of Henry VIII, or simply "Six Wives")

Hi everybody,

just wanted to say Hi.

Hi!

I'm not a prog expert like you guys, in fact my prog knowledge is quite limited, mostly to the more mainstream prog really (i.e. Pink Floyd (obviously), Moody Blues, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull and of course the wonderful King Crimson (especially ITCOTCK) - and ohers of course, that's all I can think of right now).

Hopefully one day I'll be able to mix it with you guys on the more esoteric albums but in the meantime I'll keep reading and see if I can pick up any ideas!

For those that are interested I like my prog on the original LPs (no CDs if I can help it), and use a Linn turntable.

I have two missions:

1) understand all the acronyms I've seen in the forum for LPs.

2) Convert my soon-to-be-wife to Prog. When I met her, she thought Don Mclean was prog... but now she listens to ITCOTCK (look! I used an acronym!). One time she asked for it four times in a row.... so there's hope yet!

Oh, the reason I joined is because I've just got hold of an (the!) original LP by Aardvark. Does that make me hardcore, or stupid? :)
