Topic: Ipod Nano 6 generation doubt Posted: April 01 2011 at 19:52 |
Did someone here buy the new ipod nano (6 generation)? I buy mine last week and i got a doubt: with my older ipod nano, from 3 generation, i could pause an track in the middle and turn off the ipod, when i turn on the track was at same point that i stoped. But, with the 6 generation nano, if the time is too long after i turned off the ipod, when i turn on it goes to main menu, with no track. I like jazz, long tracks etc and its annoying, so what im doing is putting into "sleep mode", the screen gets all dark and i pause the music, but do you know if even with paused track and sleep mode the ipod continues consuming the battery´s energy??
Thx for any help.

The iPlod will consume battery power while in sleep-mode, however, it consumes power even when switched-off - it keeps some of the circuitry powered to keep the clock running and to monitor the power switch. How much battery drain there is is not documented - All I can suggest is doing a test yourself:
- fully charge the iPlod and then play continuously until the battery icon drops one bar - record how long that took.
- fully charge it again and leave it switched off for 24 hours, then play it continuously until the battery icon drops one bar and record how long that took.
- fully charge it again and put it to sleep for 24 hours, then play it continuously until the battery icon drops one bar and record that time.
The time differences will give you an indication of how much less power is used in sleep and shut down modes.
If you put it into sleep mode, after 36 hours it will do a full shut-down anyway. Apple have ways to stop you doing things your way. As Alex says, they are evil, pure evil.

I've never had any experience with the i, but the Zune is my third player and it seems to be holding up well. No issues with the software or the battery. First one I got which can play tiny videos. Those will suck away battery power.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

The iPlod nano is this big ----> <----
A 160Gb harddrive is this big ----> <----
Aside from the physical size, nano's cannot take the larger format form-factor, even in flash

^A 160 GB HD in a nano (meaning rather small, I doubt I needed to point that out) would be rather ill fit.
