Thanks Henry Plainview Smile I understand exactly where you're coming from on that. What makes you dislike the title nuprog? Personally, I do think theres too many subgenres out there. I'm not so sure that having so many subgenres is a good thing. Confused

Can I chime in to say that Nu Prog is a terribly stupid genre name and nobody should ever call anything that?It would upset me to see that name propageted further. In my opinion Progressive/Alternative or some combination thereof is better and more accurate.

But of course, it is your band. ;-)

And thanks for the interesting thoughts on this piece everyone! We're going to combine all the thoughts and come to a conclusion on it. So far it looks like prog/new prog/dark wave are the judging titles, at least so far. Interesting, I didnt even think of the dark wave myself. Smile Thanks guys for giving me a few minutes of your time. I really appreciate it!

I would say it is Nu Prog, which combines progressive rock and alternative rock. It's definitely more progressive than alternative, though like Lucas mentioned, it has some Darkwave elements.

Wasn't deleted, it's in Music and Musicians Exchange:

Topic: What genre is this song?
Forum: Music and Musicians Exchange

For your various topics: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/search_results_posts.asp?SearchID=20091010120905&KW=

Anyway, the music is proggy, and one can be both Alternative Rock and Prog (often called New Prog).

Sorry about that, I believe our other post was deleted. I couldn't find it in the forum when I returned. Thanks for your response though. That's a very interesting thought. I'm going to look into that. Smile Thanks

My bandmate still believes this is prog rock. I think it suits more of a title of alternative rock. What genre would you guys say this is? We need to label this somehow since we just went to the studio to record this song and we're not sure. If anyone could give us a thought on this, that would be great. Thanks alot.. Smile
