My main bass is an Ibanez six string, I also play some fretless.

I use exclusively finger style, using a pick just doesn't work for me. I also slap and tap so a pick would make that difficult.

I can't use a pick. Fingerstyle is far superior.

I use a Rickenbacker 4003, pricey but worth it. Especially if your styles include Geddy Lee and Chris Squire. I learned with a cheapo Squier my dad had, and got the Rick for my birthday a month ago because I'm going into jazz band at school.

Well I started out learning how to play fingerstyle on the bass, even though I was a hardcore picker on the guitar...now I really want to learn how to play finger style on the guitar.

Though I do play with a pick sometimes if I'm trying to do like a Geddy Lee style bass melody just cause it sounds smoother, but I just need to work out my fingers a bit. That's kind of the trick to learning bass, you have to SERIOUSLY work out your fingers and forearms.

...

Aww man, whoever owns a fretless bass, I ENVY YOU...

Can't play with a pick...  Some sounds truly need it, but I'll manage without.
