My first was "The World Became The World" and it is sung in English, so that may help you. I know here that their first 2 albums, sung in Italian are ver y popular.
What do you p[refer to start on English or Italian ooor don't care?
Nice to see you're still here!

The first three albums:Storia Di Un Minuto, Per Un Amico and L'Isola Di Niente are all incredible albums and are actually better in Italian (if you can avoid the embarrassment of people asking why you're listening to something in Italian) than their English-speaking counterparts. If you like Genesis,Camel or their contemporary Italians,Banco, you will loike PFM!
The English versions are fine (although 3 albums are crammed into two:Photo Of Ghosts and The World Became The World)-the lyrics are provided bt Pete Sinfield of ELP lyrics fame, but the vocal doesnt sound as convincing.
Very highly recommended if you like old-fashioned 70's prog.I love all three albums.

Couldn't have said it better. L'Isola Di Niente is my second favourite album of all time (after Yes' Going For The One). And as Snow Dog said: good that you're still here. Starting all kinds of interesting threads, I might add!

Storia di un minuto ... Storia di un minuto ... Storia di un minuto

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”
"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

I must say I totally disagree. PFM's lead singer has an awful accent when he sings in English.
Stick to the native language. I think you should start with Per un amico and avoid Photos of Ghosts unless you really love PFM.

How can you disagree with what I've written?
I haven't stated that one is better than the other!

I bought "storia di un minuto" and "per un amico" four weeks ago. I'm
50 and have seen GENESIS, YES, ZAPPA etc. live in the 70-ties. I never
heard about PFM till this year!!! Can somebody explain me why?
Oops, I forgot to say that I try hard to like PFM. But this music - for
me - has no beginning and no end. And in between I can't feel anything.
They have some nice passages in. But compared to the Giants of Rock it
is peanuts. That's all I can say. My feelings about it.

YES - Close to the edge / UK - UK / GENESIS - The lamb lies down / KING CRIMSON - Discipline / MIKE OLDFIELD - Tubular bells / JETHRO TULL - Aqualung / GENTLE GIANT - Three friends / TMO - IMF

PFM is one of the most under rated prog band in history.... I guess because they are not an english spoken band.
Said that, music is there to give emotions: if you don't like PFM there is nothing wrong with it!
I love this band, especially on stage: they are so powerfull, energetic but full or romanticism as well.
I believe that you cannot judge PFM untill you will not have the chance to see them on stage.
