Topic: Repeated threads/topics Posted: March 17 2005 at 08:06 |
I logged in last year and a lot of the threads are regularly coming again, because the new members are not aware some of the topics have been dicussed quiet often. Is it not possible to create a crosslink or a search programme permitting to check up if a topic has already been discussed and where to find it. IMHO this would reduce the number of threads and bring out some reccurrent topics which could be discussed on a more "followed" base. For ex/ a Genesis file, an ELP file etc.

The search facility is there already, but few people appear to use it before starting a new thread.
Having said that, sometimes it's better to start afresh. Threads can often digress or degrade, so rather than opening old woulds, a new thread can be the most constructive solution.

Well, I did search for topics , in this case Godspeed You! Black Emperor, I even tried GYBE...the result was blank. Later, after posting the thread Im told that it already had been covered. I were posting in main discussion and apparently it had been covered in the featured CD forum...so why didnt the search button give any result? Do you have to search all the forums before starting a thread?
