Sigh is a 3 piece hailing from Japan that play an intense blend of progressive metal with harsh vocals, classic metal riffs and tons of vintage keyboard interplay and traditional classical and psychedelic elements.  Their last release Imaginary Sonicscape is one of my favorite albums of the decade so far and their back catalogue has some real treats as well.

Even though they're a modern metal band the keyboardist plays some familiar favorites with TREMENDOUS skill such as Fender Rhodes, Minimoog, Hammond organ, Hohner clavinet and more

If you want to learn more about them go to listen.to/sigh and click Audio to hear their wonderful track "Divine Graveyard" from Scenario 4: Dread Dreams.

Prog is the new punk, becuase kids who shop at Hot Topic don't know Bill Bruford is God.

Hail hail! Too true. Sigh is indeed one of the most prog metal bands ever...recommended albums are 'Hail Horror Hail' and 'Imaginary Soundscape'...

I don't mind harsh vocals, I listen to plenty of good metal with good harsh vocals, but I do think Sigh's harsh vocals don't quite match up too well with their music. If they changed the vocal approach to something more suitable, they'd go from great to MINDBLOWING.

...it is real...it is Rael...

Aerosol:

If you like Japanese prog, check out Ruins, a seriously demented duo (drums and bass).   The drummer is a monster.  In fact, I keep forgetting to include him in threads about great drummers: this guy is so amazing it's absolutely scary!.  The music (if you can call it that!) takes some getting used to, especially since, other than the bass, there is no "melodic" instrument (i.e., guitar, keyboard).  However, once you "get it," it is some of the most interesting, creative and exciting prog being made.

Peace.
