I appeared once in the news when 'The fellowship of the ring' opened, much to the delight and mockery of my work friends, who really didn't know I could dress like a hobbit and go out to the street...

Yes, not so long ago there was a reportage about Football (soccer for Americans) Fans and a camera team came along with us as we did huge preparations for a really great 'paper choreography' (I dont know how you call this one in english, see Picture of this action, the stadium is under construction for the Fifa Worldcup 2006) and I was in this documentary...

There was a TV show, when I was in my youth, called "Michigan Outdoors." The main guy, Mort Neff, came out to the Wyandotte Boat Club (see Oarsman thread) and I, along with my compadres, made it to the small screen.. Oh, yeah.
I think I made it on a few TV News things, Detroit area, covering local regattas.
I've been in the local newspaper, in central California, a couple of times. They actually did an article on me but half of the information was incorrect. It was so bad I didn't keep a copy, nor did I send it out to family (Sorry RobJ).

Well, I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but...
I have something of a long history in this regard, amounting to far more than my alloted "15 minutes" of fame.
First, before the advent of advance ticket sales for movies via credit card, if you wanted to be among the first to see a new movie, you had to wait in line - and for "hot" films, often overnight.
Well, I was the rabid fan (read "idiot") who was always first in line in New York for hot movie openings. These included: Close Encounters, E.T., Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Star Trek II, III, IV, V and VI, all three Indiana Jones films, Blade Runner, and a few others. And, inevitably, I was the one who was interviewed by numerous media outlets - both print and television - and found myself in newspaper articles and on T.V. that night and the next day. It was actually quite fun.
Also, I was an extra in "Regarding Henry" (Harrison Ford, Annette Bening), and can actually be seen clearly for about 7 seconds near the end, when Ford and Bening are walking along a park and stop to chat: I am on the bench behind them.
Also, during the decade in which I ran an event management and public relations firm specializing in high-profile, celebrity-driven fundraising events, I often ended up in the news, even when I didn't want to, simply by my proximity to stars, and the occasional controversies that arose (as they tend to do when stars are involved...)
Also, some years ago, I was part of a Channel 9 investigative report: no, I wasn't being investigated, I was sort of helping with it.
Finally, in 1985, I wrote a song as a memorial to John Lennon. Not only was the song played on the radio on six stations in three cities - simultaneously - on the 5th anniversary of John's death, but the song and I were featured in a CBS-TV news special report that evening.
What can I tell you: I'm just a shameless publicity hound!
Peace.

I am proud to have starred in a Rush concert's audience. It may be nothing compared to maani's claim, but it is still my personal pleasure.

Hey, just saw me on TV...and it was germanys first telestation and a show seen by about 20 million people every week...It's called 'Sportschau' and is allowed to show summaries of all soccer matches before other telestations are allowed to do so and so over 20 million people watch it every week. Today, our team won 3:0 and they showed the fans as a player performed a penalty. But they realy zoomed in so you could see me and two of my friends on the screen, about 5 sec. just the three of us

Noel Edmonds decided to quit TV a few years back. His father, Dudley Edmonds was actually my headmaster at my senior school. No real relevance to the topic but a bit of useless info none the less. I along with millions of others like Noels House Party, though it did get panned by the critics towards the end.

NOT SURPRISING, AS THAT WAS THE SHOW WHICH INFLICTED 'MR BLOBBY' ON THE NATION!
My only TV appearance was at Fripp's 'League Of Crafty Guitarists' show at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London in 1987 (I think) - when shown on TV, you can quite clearly see my left shoulder. Impressive, Eh?
