Ohh... Horrid poll! You can't shove Focus in with all of those! I love
Supersister and Finch but Focus just win it every time for Hamburger
Concerto alone. And JrKA... BLAND?! If you've only ever heard Mother
Focus then that might make sense, but Focus 3 and Hamburger Concerto
are FAR from bland records!

it is just so fustrating.. those idiots who have an argument before they really did their best to look into the whole picture.. it's just like saying all the muslims are terrorists.. It just doesn't make sence.. Especially our prognihilist phillipe is frustrating me.. he is bitching about everything before he took a close look. Just ask everybody else here, opeth for example ISN'T just an death metalband.. (one of Phillipes remarks)..
personal for rob the plant: eey aarsch.. als je genoeg geeft heb ik led zeppelin 1 2 3 en 4 op LP stonerrock is toch 1 pot nat...

I voted TRACE, mostly due to the superb keyboard playing on Trace and Birds, By the way, Ekseption and Trace do blend since lineups mingled. Rick van der Linden (not related to Pierre van der Linder) is a super talent. The more classic influenced Trace was my favorites at their time.
The more free improvised FOCUS style is what I listen to today and is actually my preference. I'm still eager to hear from the forum members some opinions on FOCUS 8, but I guess nobody heard it !

Kayak by a mile. Earth and Fire second, Focus third, Supersister
fourth. Alquin fifth. Ekseption never appealed to me. Finch???

anyone ever heard of Pantheon? Orion is maybe as
good(better than Finch) as Focus 3 and was
recorded the same year as Moving Waves and a year
before 3.

You know that this poll has been done two times before, right? You probably do, because I see your own reply in one of the two.
At this moment: Focus. Kayak used to be my nr. 1 and I still think they're very good.
Best Dutch prog album though: Earth and Fire - Atlantis

EARTH & FIRE. Their first three albums are fantastic, although their
albums became increasingly patchy after that. MIRROR's "Daybreak"
(1976) is another Dutch symphonic classic, although it's extremely rare
and has never been reissued.

So you think the 1st Earth & Fire album is good too? I never dared to check that one out. Atlantis is in my all time top 10.

The first EARTH & FIRE album is my personal favourite, but it sounds
totally different to "Atlantis". It's more psychedelic than progressive, with
a strong Europop edge and a rough, garage feel in parts - sort of what
ABBA would have sounded like had they formed a few years earlier and
been more influenced by West Coast rock (especially JEFFERSON
AIRPLANE).

Well, that's certainly a clear description, and it still sounds interesting. Never heard someone who liked the 1st album, so that is sort of an eyeopener. And I do like some of the 60's psychedelic bands, and E&F always had good tunes like Abba, so that sounds good. Jerney Kaagman's voice in the early days was not unlike Grace Slick's, I think.
Well, thanks!
