I'm extremely partial to The Fish, that groove is sick.  Steve Howe hits so heavy in it, and so does Squire.  What are your favorite Yes songs?

My Yes top 10:

  • The Gates of Delerium
  • Close to the Edge
  • Awaken
  • And You And I
  • We Have Heaven
  • Ritual (Live - can't stand the production on the studio version but just watch the version on Yes Symphonic! Wow!)
  • Sound Chaser (Cha cha cha cha cha!)
  • Perpetual Change
  • Release Release
  • Starship Trooper (Live - Mit de moog solos)
When Yes are good, no one can touch 'em.

I'm sure that the entire thing is played on bass by Squire.

Wait, the entire song is Squire?  I know like, Howe plays that ascending riff with harmonics live...  If Squire played that whole song... woah.

Strangely, i'm not too fond of all the really long songs Yes recorded. I think that Tales from Topographic Oceans could have been sacled down to about 40 or 50 minutes and would have been a whole lot better.

But anyways...

my top 5:

1. Heart of the Sunrise

2 Tempus Fugit

3. The Fish

4. Roundabout

5. And You and I

Roundabout may not be in there, but i'm drawing a lbank on everything else

First, let me say that Yes is quite possibly my favorite band of all time.  So, I think that 90% of their songs are awesome!

That said, I love the live versions of Starship Trooper with Steve and Rick dueling each other.  Simply amazing!

I have to admit that I love a great deal of Yes's catalogue
and it is extremely difficult to choose one, more than the others
so I am going to choose a song which I believe has not been given the credit
it deserves.

In the Presence Of,  IMO is a beautiful song which seems to have been
overlooked because of some of the weaker points in that album.
