My favourite flute player at the moment: Geoff Richardson. Take for instance his beautiful flute solo on Caravan's Watcha Gonna Tell Me.

As much as I like Andy Latimer, Peter Gabriel and Angela Goldthorpe (Mostly Autumn) my vote goes to Ian Anderson.

Andy Latimer ... by a long way!

Substitute the word 'flute' in the title for 'guitar' and Andy still comes out on top!

Just listen and listen and enjoy and listen again!
I hate people who never finish their

I don't think he's nearly as good a flutist as the other's mentioned - many of Genesis's flute sounds were Mellotron (Banks) anyway.

I love the melodic sound of Latimer, but my vote goes to Anderson, impressive work.

I agree! I saw Caravan perform at the Isle Of Wight Festival a couple of weeks ago and they were excellent and IMO blew every other band off the stage. Geoff's flute playing was outstanding (and so was his spoon playing )

Don't hate me
I'm not special like you

My vote goes to.. Ian Anderson. Only for his playing on Uriah Heep - Acoustically Driven. I have to say that I really donīt like Jethro Tull (sorry, too much folk for me) but what he was able to add to some songs of the aforementioned album...impressive.

Van leer and Latimer are also very good but you can hear that the flute isnīt their main instrument.

I definitely respect your point of view. Still for me, Andy Latimer.

Oohh that's a tough one. Anderson, I'd say, followed by McDonald.

Florian Schnneider (Kraftwerk). Oh, don't shoot me... try to listen the first albums - 'Ruckzuck' and 'Tongebirge' are real classics... and don't tell me it's not prog!!
