Classic Dutch Prog & Neo Prog

SALMON      More striking than Ruud Gullit! There's nothing remotely fishy about this superb Neo Symphonic Prog band. Salmon are one catch you won't want to throw back in the sea, being the tastiest fish since Steve Hillage's Salmon Song.  Salmon's  incredible debut album is worth more than the price of a tin of Salmon, even allowing for inflation. When you hear this outstanding Dutch band, you'll feel like throwing your 1980's Genesis albums away. Oh wait, I already did that. 

S.O.T.E. (Songs of the Exile)     Back after a three month excursion exploring the outer regions of the Space Rock universe, this is the Heavy Prog sound of S.O.T.E. (Songs of the Exile), about which information is S.C.A.R.C.E, other than to mention they're The Netherlands answer to Dream Theater! That may be all you need to know. 

RICOCHER      For those of us - like me - who can't get enough of Dutch Neo Prog, we're bouncing back again with Ricocher. 

RADAVIQUE      After that unpleasant lunar excursion, we're back down to earth with an obscure but rather more appealing Neo Prog band.

PUMPKIN      Too late for Halloween maybe, but you can enjoy this cool jazz album at any time of the year. 

PTS       Neo Prog band PTS are the perfect antidote to chillout to if you're suffering from PTS (Post-Traumatic Stress). 

PRISMA     One of three prog bands named Prisma, Dutch Prisma are an enigmatic Jazz-Rock outfit about which little is known, even by The Netherlands recondite standards of obscurity.  

PHILHELMON      If Rembrandt represented the Golden Age of Dutch Art, then Philhelmon are yet another representation of the Golden Age of Dutch Prog, which we're lucky enough to be currently living through, so Enjoy It While It Lasts. 

PEDAL POINT    Every once in a while, an album comes along that sounds like nothing you've ever heard before, and this is it! Just file it under "Progressive".  You don't have to be of a religious disposition to enjoy this devotional album, but it certainly helps. If you hear shades of Focus in the music of Pedal Point, then you won't be surprised to learn this one-off album features none other than Thijs Van Leer. And just in case you wondered, "Dona Nobis Pacem" is Latin for "Give Us Peace" - something worth remembering the next time I listen to a Death Metal album, which isn't very often.
