I’ve heard 5 of these and I think Richard Wrights wet dreams is the most interesting of the 5. Space shanty would be a close second.

NEKTAR - Journey to the Centre of the Eye (1971)
CRESSIDA - Cressida (1970) (I think Asylum is their strongest effort)
AUDIENCE - Friend's Friend's Friend (1970)

Garden Shed  > Space Shanty > Nektar > Illusion > Cressida

would be my top 5...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Odd to see FRUUPP and FUCHSIA go unvoted. Less known than others in the list, maybe, but worthy acts both.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh and I should give them another go, but I always found Fruupp to be a bit 'second division'.. I've not heard anything by them which for me would stand next to the first 4 I picked certainly; maybe I'd put their best stuff on a par with Cressida?

On a first listen, it was like "hey, I'll have these people close for a rainy day". And the day didn't come soon, but eventually came, with a rewarding new listen. I like them both quite better than Cressida (for whom I personally feel respect, but no enthusiasm), specially the classical-like arrangements of Fruupp (not Genesis, of course, but really good), and the lively interplay of Fuchsia, a sort of folk vibe taken to the next level of energy. Perhaps the lack of a gripping vocalist results in their not being more recognized. Not an expert opinion, of course, just my impression.

which is probably better informed than mine... I've never really given Fruupp repeat listens or heard them in some while, and I've yet to be initiated into the world of Fuchsia.... some day!
