Ahsoka

The Star Wars universe continues its microcosmic exploration, this time a young Master Jedi (Rosario Dawson) trained by Anakin Skywalker before he turned to the Dark Side takes on a difficult but determined apprentice as they search for an Imperial Grand Admiral thought long dead.   Good pacing and likeable characters comprise Dave Filoni's contribution to Lucas's vast galaxy of myth, adventure, mystery and magic.

"Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."   -- John F. Kennedy

Silo - season 2

Meh. It's okay, but it doesn't slay me. I wish I could find a Sci-Fi experience I enjoy as thoroughly as Babylon 5. Great story, dialogue, politics, humor, and few games. The closest I've come lately is The Expanse, but even that show lacked the personality of G'Kar and Londo.

North Shore Season 1
Aussie made series starring Joanne Froggatt as a British minister trying to negotiate a trade deal with her Australian counterpart but who then suffers a personal tragedy while in Australia. A police detective played by John Bradley (of Game Of Thrones fame) comes over from the UK to assist in the related crime investigation. I liked the way it meshed a soap type drama with a crime drama, even managing to shoe horn in some political intrigue along the way. The characters are well drawn and it has some sharp dialogue. Enjoyable 'throw away' stuff with an ending that suggests a further season could be in the offing. 7/10

Silo Season 2
Finally got round to watching the final 2 episodes after the last dropped on Friday. Maybe lacking the mystery and intrigue of Season 1 as we now know the important fact about the surface. However most of the occupants of the silo don't so that is perhaps the 'fun' aspect. Naturally we are left with another cliff hanger as well as a very odd flashback at the very end, the point of which escapes me. This is still a solid 8/10 even if it's not on the level of Babylon 5 (or Star Trek TOS, Firefly etc) or even Fallout which was the standout sci-fi show of 2024 for me. I am a sucker for an apocalypse drama. BTW Seasons 3 and 4 are being filmed back to back so you can get invested in this knowing more is to come.

The Pez was a relic. I was thinking the guy in the flashback may have been Quinn? Not sure--I didn't read the books. It was a fun cliffhanger episode though.

Thanks. I suppose I could read one of the half dozen links that keep coming up on google explaining the ending Smile

As we are on the subject of sci-fi I would recommend The Orville as a show with very intelligent writing and interesting character arcs. It's been perhaps wrongly considered a 'spoof' although there is some very sly humour and obvious fun digs at Star Trek.  Pity that it has been cancelled after 3 seasons but then all the best sci-fi goes that way it seems. BUT having just now looked it up it is going to Season 4 and has been confirmed that filming to start in this month. Happy days!!

American Primeval (Netflix)
-Watched all episodes on Sunday, I think 6. Started out kinda weird and gruesome with not only killings but animal butchering that IMO did not need to be so in your face.
The series grew on us after the first 2 episodes and ended up being pretty good, once the storyline moved to more about the Mormon movement and Brigham Young vs US Govt.

Honestly did not know much about the origins of the Mormon movement and the Mountain Meadows massacre......

Sounds interesting, though I don't have Netflix. That's one funny thing about the streaming age. I'll hear about some great show, read some reviews, and then realize I don't have the right service to watch it!

You might find Under The Banner Of Heaven (another TV mini series) interesting as it also touches on the Mountain Meadows massacre (even depicting it in one of the episodes) and goes into Mormon 'fundamentalism' views.

Just finished Series 2 of Silo. Still good, but not as mysterious and exciting as the first series. A strange ending to the last episode which didn't really give us very much but will surely be expanded upon in the 3rd season. 8/10

Watched the first episode of the new Martin Clunes drama Out There. It's set in rural Wales and looks promising. I only mention it because it featured not just one but two Pink Floyd songs (WYWH and Money). Methinks someone involved in the production may be a Floyd fan!
