By the way, I understand that this is a contest, and there's nothing wrong with that, but for myself I don't treat these as competitions with winners or losers. I just like to the enthuse about music I appreciate with others, and that in itself make the music a winner in my book. And it makes me a winner if myself and others can together share in an express that appreciation ("one of us, gooble gobble, one of us..."). I am not the competitive type, but maybe that's because I always was more of wiener than a winner... Maybe a Bavarian Bratwurst? We should have wiener emoticon, --> I have heard the Prog community described as a sausage-fest.
I mean the "competition" and "winner" things are just really here to provide a framework to look back a certain year and have a discussion on what albums each one liked the most. It is in the format of a game or a competition because this makes it more involving and intriguing for a larger group of users but what matters is which albums are appreciated, loved, and whose favorites are represented... Anything else can be mentioned, any band, album or song can be shared over. It is not to be taken as the "prog olympics" but in a  much more lighthearted manner... as I said, it is more of a framework for discussion.

Out of the options given I went with Sikth simply because that release doesn't get nearly as much appreciation as it should Smile

Mine was more of general comment on polls when people focus on the idea of "winners". It's quite common here. Having winners can create a sense of drama. My wife watches shows like Survivor. I've said that I often would rather survival shows that are not contests with necessary winners and losers. Of course the ones who fail to survive kind of are losers, even if they expire later in some of the more extreme survival ones like an extreme fasting challenge such as The Hungry Games and the more extreme still, The Really Hungry Games. :)

I have not been playing close enough attention to be honest, really am out of it these days (got over COVID recently and still having issues) but I figured you were going to have the option with the most votes from each poll compete against each other at the end.

I only imagine it is slightly overlooked by "traditional" prog fans because it is much heavier than your usual metal album, with all the grizzly vocals, but the entire album is exceptionally wild, really can't believe it came out in 2003. Many young metal bands nowadays are miles away from displaying such an adventurous and progressive sound.

Sorry, missed your response before. Actually, I do like the idea of having those compete at the end. :) I'm just full of contradictions. "Losers" round or rounds could be fun too, with those with one or two votes competing against each other. Of course it's yours to do with as you wish and my ideas often are very silly. I like silly. The ultimate losers are those with no votes and no mentions in responses one might say.
