IT'S IMMATERIAL     A laid-back indie duo from Liverpool who believe It's Immaterial whether or not they have a hit record. Just as well really, as their second album disappeared below the waves faster than the Titanic. Confused

PHILIP JAP      A North London singer who competed in a TV talent contest hosted by David Essex (titled "The David Essex Showcase", funnily enough) alongside such up-and-coming acts as Talk Talk, Thomas Dolby, Toto Coelo, the Belle Stars and Mari Wilson. Philip Jap's main claim to fame though was having a single and album produced by Trevor Horn, who was no doubt relieved to escape the recent Drama of being the frontman for YES. Smile

JAPAN      A New Wave band from the far east of London led by David Sylvian and with a permanent new wave hairdo to match. New Romantic trendsetters Japan have been described as more Art Rock than Synth-Pop.

^ 'Gentlemen Take Polaroids' is one of my favourite albums. Clap

I was lucky enough to see them live at Newcastle City Hall in 1982. Smile

That's cool. In complete contrast, I saw the seriously uncool Buck's Fizz at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall in 1982. Embarrassed

I was in the dark for a moment over the meaning of "GTP", but here's Night Porter. Smile

They played Brussel on that Tour ... with an extra axeman who spoiled a bit the silky atmospheres of some songs .... I hink their Live DLP Oil on Canvas (I haven't listened to since .....) was a fair witness of the Tour.
