As mentioned earlier, I prefer Eloy (even much), and I can also tell that my Eloy fond-ofs are Inside, Floating and Ocean.

Hi,
Nektar all the way since ATITO ... and from then on, all of their albums. Eloy from the first American release on HARVEST, which got an immediate play by Guy Guden as well as a bunch of other bands on the same label that kinda showed up together ... Kayak was in that bunch as well. "Floating" got immediate airplay by Guy Guden as did "See See The Sun". Nektar was in the first SPR shows all the way back to January 1974.

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

I knew of Nektar well before Eloy; Nektar were part of the 1970's UA label roster along with Man, Hawkwind, Brinsley Schwartz, Amon duul 2 and some of the other German UA artists.. they tended to be 'freak' (Space/Psych) bands and often played in package tours aimed at a slightly different audience from the average Genesis or Yes fan. Apart from a few German import lps, Eloy were completely unknown in the UK before Neo/ NWOBPR revival in the early 80's and the Planets/ Time to turn album releases on an independent UK label (Heavy metal worldwide), the BBC sessions and the run of gigs at the Marquee. I bought Colours on a whim before i heard them on the Friday Rock show (83/84) but didn't even know about their earlier more Space-rock material from the early 70's until the early 90's

Quite... I was into Eloy years before the internet... didn't discover Nektar until around 2006/7 and some of their catalogue over the past few years?

Different people have different life experiences. I was introduced to Nektar by my older brother in the early '80s (though he had been enthusing about their debut album since the mid-'70s). By contrast, I had not heard of Eloy until I started visiting PA. Eloy - Ocean is at #128 in the top 250 list whereas Nektar is nowhere to be found in that list. No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

It's a good poll. Resurrecting an old thread or poll is a sign of appreciation and respect for the thread/poll creator.

you busy digging up old skeletons again, Cristi? Eloy certainly... but don't discount Nektar; they did 3 or 4 fine albums...

I'm pretty sure one of the Focus vs Nektar polls was one I started.
