Yep. It's better than Gentle Giant's Civilian although maybe that's not saying a whole lot. I'd say it's better than VDGG's Do Not Disturb (if that is indeed their last) also although again not saying a whole lot.

I still like all these albums just not as much as Clockwork Angels. I never even heard ELP's In the Hot Seat but from what I understand it seems like that's probably one of the worst (if not the worst) final albums by a major prog band.

To be honest I am not sure I understand all the hatred for Calling All Stations. If it wasn't put out by Genesis I doubt everyone would be so hard on it. I'm not saying it's one of their best and it might even be their worst but I guess I just don't feel it's as awful as others think it is.

Well I suppose nothing can really be that bad in truth if it's made by actual musicians especially of the calibre of those on these albums. Both albums represent an artistic low for the respective band and are bankrupt of any decent ideas (I could say 'imo' but hardly anyone is likely to challenge). They are not badly played or badly produced though.

I've never heard of the Clock Work Angles album, although I'm a relative latecomer to the music of Rush, having  only become a fan since joining ProgArchives. Going off at a tangent, these are the eight Rush albums I've managed to acquire on CD so far, with Hemispheres just added yesterday.

I haven't heard In the Hot Seat, but I didn't find Calling all Stations particularly bad. I didn't find it particularly good either, but it does have a pair of songs I enjoy... overall, I guess it's not even their worst album.

I never thought much of Clockwork Angles but I think even less of Clockwork Angels. When I saw the band in 2013 and they devoted half the show to this album I almost walked out. By a good way, their worst ever effort.

I tried very hard to like this album, as so many had raved about it, but couldn’t get on with it at all….

Oh FFS, how do you delete a post when you realise you’ve already posted and said the same thing🤔😩🤣

I also prefer the late 70's and early 80's material but interestingly the album received 1226 rating votes and garnered 3.93 stars which is better than the previous 9 lps .
So apparently quite a few Rush fans liked it.

Oh please, it's light years better than Roll The Bones, just to name one.

Pretty much all bands will create their setlist around the most recent album, so making it sound like you were surprised or disappointed carries no weight........Regardless if you like the album or not.

Love it, Rush last 3 efforts honestly are my favourites from them, each one with its own distinctivity.
My only criticism is that they are loud as f**k, but the songs are fantastic and carry a lot of emotion, the song-writing and arrangements are very well elaborated.

I also love Signals, Power Windows and Counterparts albums as well. The rest, after the classic period, ranges from good to subpar though (Hold your fire).

Snakes and Arrows is less interesting than both Clockwork Angels and Roll the Bones IMO. Smile

Agreed completely..... my list of poorest Rush albums would start as follows:

1) Vapor Trails
2) Snakes & Arrows
3) Rush
4) Roll The Bones

and so on.... till we eventually reach Permanent Waves... Big smile

Vapor Trails and Snakes and Arrows are my two least favorite. RTB I actually quite like and imo it's almost as good (or maybe even as good) as TFE and Presto.

that's quite interesting; I really thought I was about the only one who felt that way...

I'll be honest, I'd actually given up on Rush after those two and didn't actually try CA until it had been out for 2 years, when someone I met at work lent it me...
