I skipped Q before knowing that I would combine it with U later -- those two letters go well together and Q is not a popular letter in my collection. I was going to just have 25 options in total this time, but then just now I remembered Urban Sax, which I used to be very into and feel like playing again. So I combined Ur Kaos and Ut Gret, where one can vote for one or both (please specify in a post).
If applicable, please choose three acts, or more, or less, from this poll (from all Q and U options together) of some of my favourites to vote on and mention in a post, and please mention any of your own favourites. I encourage commentary and discussion on any that you think apply. Note that not all are in PA in the poll and in the masterlist (the majority are), but to me they have significant enough relations to be sufficiently relevant to a forum of Progressive rock enthusiasts. Umiliani would be the one one of these that I might question being added to PA. Q AND U Qa'a * Qualia Quarteto 1111 Quatermass * Queen * Quella Vecchia Locanda * Quicksilver Messenger Service * Quiet Sun * Quintessence * Qujaku * Not for my Q list: Queensr˙che and Queen Latifah U U Totem * Uboa * Ultimate Spinach * Ulver * Piero Umiliani * Unit Wail * The United Jazz + Rock Ensemble * The United States of America * Univeria Zekt * Univers Zéro * Universal Totem Orchestra * The Unthanks (Rachel Unthank and the Winterset) Unwound * Uppsala Urban Sax * Ur Kaos * Ut Gret * Utopia (aka Todd Rundgren's Utopia) * Utopic Sporadic Orchestra * Uz Jsme Doma * Not in my U list: Umphrey's McGee, Uriah Heep, Uterus Kitten Here are the past polls: 26 "T" List Acts & 25 "S" List Acts & 25 "R" List Acts & 28 "P" List Acts & 27 "O" List Acts & 27 "N" List Acts & 25 "M" List Acts & 25 "L" List Acts & 25 "K" List Acts & 25 "I and J" List Acts & 25 "H" List Acts & 29 "G" List Acts & 26 "F" List Acts & 25 "E" List Acts & 26 "D" List Acts & 25 "C" List Acts & 25 "B" List Acts & 25 "A" List Acts Looking forward to seeing what people like on my poll and/or mentioned in this post, and what other favourites people have. I hope to maybe discover something from others thanks to this or be reminded of something that I genuinely forget (I usually do forget ones that I later think, ah, I should have included that or at least mentioned it in my OP). Thanks again to all who have participated and all of the great comments. It has been a joy for me to read so many of the posts. Edited by Logan - September 18 2024 at 10:39 |

^ Oh, UK is a very big name here that I forgot to mention in my OP. It's much bigger than Uterus Kitten, and the UK is significantly larger than a kitten's uterus too. ;)

Today I feel like going with five:
Univers Zéro Uboa The United States of America U Totem The Unthanks The only one of those not in PA is The Unthanks as Uboa was added not that long ago. I shared this track in the Interactive Polls, this is wonderful (top notch modern folk group, from the 2015 album, Mount the Air). The Unthanks did the music for the modern TV version of Worzel Gummidge. |

Well, I forgot all about The United States of America and their eponymous 1968 record is rockin' a 4.17. |

My "Q" would be Quintorigo if present. Nice to see Piero Umiliani, an author of movie soundtracks who is still getting royalties after about 60 years for a 2 minutes song that everybody knows but almost nobody knows where it came from. I have loved Pangea Proxima by Unit Wail and I've also had a nice a-mail exchange with the band. Lot of Italians here, I'm also going to vote for the best Italian Zeuhl band: Universal Totem Orchestra and to the non-italians Univers Zero |

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Quicksilver. One of my favourite bands. John Cippolina’s guitar sound is unique. Gary Duncan’s no slouch either.

^ HI< just suggestion since lot of people get code in their post, I made a topic on the issue at the beginning of the year. And it also shows how to manually use BB code for the forum with the editor disabled See https://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=132330
"What has worked for me is (when logged-in) to go to Member Control Panel (near top left of from screen), then click on Forum Preferences, then I clicked on the "No" option for Enable the WYSIWYG post editor before updating the profile. That does mean that you have to manually tag urls to make them hyperlinks and manually tag videos to embed them (and manually tags colours), and you don't export rich text when pasting etc. but I have been fine with that." |

^ just unticking the BBcodes box seems to sort it for me ( but you have to do it every time)
Voted Queen, Quatermass and Quella Vecchia Locanda. RIO is not my thing. I like Queen and recently listened to Prophets song for the first time in ages (wow!). Up to and including A Night At The Opera they are are a very interesting band and also get much credit for Innuendo which is one of the few listenable late 80's album releases by a major seventies act. IMO EDIT apparently Innuendo was a 1991 release which always confuses me lol!
