The Red Masque, Ruins, and Runaway Totem. Oh yeah, and maybe Renaissance and Rush too. Hanging out at the hairball vending machine again.

I'd add RPWL to the list as well.

Thanks for all of the replies.

A preview of acts that I will be choosing from for the S poll. It is one of the more popular letters in my collection. It is again missing various fairly popular Prog or possibly prog choices like Spock's Beard and Symphony X, but then choosing 25 is an almost ridiculous exercise even just based on personal tastes for the well-listened, and I encourage others to list what they like as well as choosing from my lists.

I do favour that which has excited me the most in my recent years, so that narrows it down considerably and I will try to make it more on the Prog side even if not all are in PA. For instance, Sufjan Stevens is a no-brainer for me, and I have been very into St. Vincent over the past year. Ones like Spirogyra, Schulze, Stringtronics and Supersister are perennial favourites for me. And of course my beloved Stereolab, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Swans etc.

Buffy Sainte-Marie
Salle Gaveau
Samla Mammas Manna
Santana
Konomi Sasaki
Saturnia
Satwa
Karl Heinz Schäfer
Lalo Schifrin
Klaus Schulze
Secret Chiefs 3
The Sea Nymphs
Yochk'o Seffer
Semiramis
Sensations' Fix
Willam Sheller
Shibusashirazu
Shining
Hideo Shiraki
The Shiver
Shub-Niggurath
Jane Siberry
Sigur Rós
Silver Apples
A Silver Mt. Zion
Simon & Garfunkel
Nancy Sinatra
Siouxsie and The Banshees
The Sisters of Mercy
Skeleton Crew
Skids
Józef Skrzek
Slapp Happy
Slint
Sloche
The Smile
Patti Smith
Tim Smith
The Smiths
Snakefinger
Soft Machine
Solaris
The Sound
Soundgarden
Spinal Tap
Spirit
Spiritualized®
Spirogyra
Spookfish
Sprain
Squid
St. Vincent
Simon Steensland
Stereolab
Cat Stevens
Sufjan Stevens
Karlheinz Stockhausen
Stormy Six
Strawbs
Stringtronics
Sui Generis
Sumo
Susanne Sundfřr
Supersister
Supertramp
Swans
Sweep the Leg Johnny
Sweet Trip
David Sylvian

So much stupendous music to choose from.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I think they were one of a kind and brilliant for about ten years, and have been largely uninteresting, bordering on awful for the next forty. I've seen them live twice as well. I don't know why on earth I gave them that second chance, but they won't get a third.

Radiohead & Renaissance. I was tempted to vote just for these two as the next ones are quite a bit behind, but then decided to give the Residents the third vote, even though they are very much hit and miss for me.

Many great bands/artists in this list. My top (in no particular order) are Renaissance, Rush, Return to Forever, and Reale Accademia di Musica.
