Placebo - is that the Belgium jazz fusion band or the 'British' alternative band lead by Brain Molko and Stefan Olsdal? (Molko was born in Belgium, Olsdal in Sweden although both grew up in Luxemborg before relocating to London and becoming British citizens according to Wiki). I would vote for the latter.

The Belgians -- I should have specified, even if Belgium is a dirty word. (those who know their Douglas Adams will know what I'm talking about).

Good to see you voting for one of the more unusual selections in the list. I love Pink and only covered those which I like, popular or not.

It's gotta be Pink Floyd. Smile

I was unsure if the collaboration between the American singer Pink ("So, so what? I'm still a rock star") and Floyd the Barber from the Andy Griffith Show would be appropriate for this forum.

And also worthy of a mention are blues musicians Pink Anderson and Floyd Cramer who originally inspired the name Pink Floyd. Wink

There is that too. Just think, if Pink Anderson and Floyd Cramer were able to team up with Pink (the US singer) and Floyd the barber from Andy Griffith's Mayberry, they could form a Barbershop Quartet that might even make what hair David Gilmour still has stand on end! Nothing wrong with his hair, but he doesn't have the luscious locks he once did which makes Rattling That Lock a little less satisfying imo.

I wanted the two together in the same poll option, and I discovered both bands at about the same time because both the French Canadian Symphonic band Pollen and the French band Pulsar released albums in the mid 70s called Pollen. I love me some symmetry. And In fact, I discovered both Pollen albums at about the same time.

Pollen: https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=909
Pulsar: https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=291

Pollen is a band from Quebec that is included in Symphonic Prog at PA. It was formed in 1972 and released the self-titled album Pollen in 1976.

Pulsar is a band from France that is included in Symphonic Prog at PA. It released the album Pollen in 1975.

It might be a Francophone thing. ;)

I think that quite a few here would like this if they don't know it already from the band Pollen off its album Pollen.

The album is a bit patchy for me these days and sounds dated, but I used to really like it and it's a real pleasure listening to that track again. It kinds of encapsulates so much that made me fall for Prog. Vive la Quebec.

When I first saw this list it was PFM and Pink Floyd standing out but I also knew they both would get lots of votes.
So I went with Placebo, Plat Du Jour and Picchio Dal Pozzo. Not a bad top five actually.

Truth is I like Pink Floyd most, but with 25 votes they don't need me. Instead I can give Pram their first vote and support PoiL and Linda Perhacs (could've been a handful of others, Present, PCO, PdP, Popol Vuh and I also do like Pulsar).

^^ No worries, including multiple acts in a poll line is not ideal, and that was bound to cause some confusion. Limiting to 25, which is the maximum number of spaces allowed, is usually hard for me (for say, X, getting it to 25 would be a challenge).

^ I was about to say the same about Portishead when I saw your post after refreshing the topic (often takes me a while to compose and post posts).

Votes went to Pink Floyd, PFM, and Poil.

On the popular side, Porcupine Tree would have gotten a vote. In the also mentions, Phideaux and Primus.

Still rocking that Present album avatar after all these years.    It's such a great album. Good to see you around again.

Incidentally, The "Poison that makes insane" (aka Le poison qui rend fou) is the perfect Present to give this Valentine's Day to that ex who left you for your best friend's wife.    (Note: I do not actually endorse toxins).
