The Tangent by far. I had the first Karfagen album but the second one was a bit too much like lift music for me.

I love a sprinkling of Marshmallow Moondust from Antony Kalugin, and The Tangent made me look at music from a new angle, but I still haven't got around to listening to a full album by Karfagen. They'll just have to join A Place in the Queue. 2008: Antony Kalugin - The Water - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nO5QHWmrTNYWRQVF_YyDqj_bewWYV6yMs 2013: Antony Kalugin - AKKO 1 - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kMIdjQBbCKo3ujGHMlXHv3dM7VnfWebNs 2020: Antony Kalugin - Marshmallow Moondust - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_n4rsW8q0M6Dbq5ijteHYRiEwDWE2GiOj0 2021: Antony Kalugin - Stellar Gardener - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m0ZUAYxLmPcAlb_DunQ_W5BZQclTCk9Q4 2021: Antony Kalugin - Chameleon Shapeshifter - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kF_-GbS51rITUzSJl6oeWVh_syKg0C_1I 2022: Antony Kalugin - Rebirth - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ldYEnrorC2UDMg6RyISu_XNRXJ3yYJ3IU 2003: The Tangent - The Music That Died Alone - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEb7IogGy2hhKUzb-lX5ZEe- 2004: The Tangent - The World That We Drive Through - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEbMmcI-ngIr3xYYRMgcWU1P 2005: The Tangent - Pyramids and Stars - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEahMvDlO60h9qSRigWxHGsQ 2006: The Tangent - A Place in the Queue - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEajbXCRB7tc9jY6adfUZSj0 2007: The Tangent - Going Off On One - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZtls4kblP5HskD8pZUVLyC 2008: The Tangent - Not as Good as the Book - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZ0wGoHYkeSYR9KMZu5Z2be 2009: The Tangent - Down and Out in Paris and London - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEY0OcqrsxEqx5mwcbex-u6Z 2011: The Tangent - COMM - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEaiLilEiLPcq9pTTfl5aF-V 2011: The Tangent - Going Off On Two - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEa4rEQZ8Uv7DYJ9MYAPkHVA 2013: The Tangent - Le Sacre du Travail - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZro4bE4Vn3LwiiPijSy90n 2015: The Tangent - A Spark in the Aether - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEZR3lC4KNBWijAlVA9rKKKZ 2017: The Tangent - The Slow Rust of Forgotten Machinery - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYsBPb0xl9tT6xsC4pf5e7S 2018: The Tangent - The Proxy - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEaNQ3bRVJCJjfuwxzkICD1o 2020: The Tangent - Auto Reconnaissance - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEYb9x4jCn1IVusSkx6K-UY5 |

presumably because Roine Stolte was still involved? After that it became much more about Tillison. I voted The Tangent mainly because of the lyrics of Andy Tillison. His musings on Brexit are particularly interesting. The last album is quite remarkable for the fact that he wrote, performed and produced the whole damn thing. Never happened before that way. I enjoy Karfagen a lot as well. Like The Tangent this is a much more relaxed version of prog. The modern prog thing is to go heavy or 'retro'. Neither of these artists do this. It's all well written and well played but will never satisfy the 'it's got be edgy and angular' brigade who see prog as some sort of obstacle course that has to be negotiated. I quite like the limousine ride myself!
