That is an idea I can imagine better concerning the Jewish than the Christian God, and with the purpose to try the humans, but anyway, it's not like I'm very happy with God, even I much prefer the Christian one over the Jewish. Edited by David_D - July 07 2024 at 14:45 |

"Paradise Lost is one of the books which the reader admires and lays down, and forgets to take up again. None ever wished it longer than it is. Its perusal is a duty rather than a pleasure." -- Dr. Samuel Johnson, 1725

Agree. By the way, I first heard it in Star Trek in the "Space Seed" episode with Khan. It featured real Corinthian leather (oh, that dates me).

Wovenhand's entire discography. Consider the Birds and Mosaic are my two favorite albums. It's basically all fire and brimstone, and darker than most "satanic bands". That's why I like it. ...Listen Judgment will not be avoided by your unbelief By your lack of fear Nor by your prayers to any little idol here He owns all those cattle He owns all these hills Forever round the throne yeah Forever round the throne Forever round the throne yeah Crow eye come see Crow eye come see The lord will not be mocked Not by you or me... This song is about Jesus. As with many non-english 1970's bands that chose to sing in english, the lyrics are pretty basic. But I just love it as a great, driving heavy prog song |

Milton fan! Paradise Lost has one of the most memorable lines in all of literature. "Better to reign in Hell, than to serve in Heaven." |

When it comes to rock generally, Satan rules. John Milton's Paradise Lost has been very inspirational. And the Omen over the Ten Commandments for me. When it comes to the "son of God", of course Jesus Christ Superstar is great, as is AD/BC: A Rock Opera. Maybe we could do a Revelations: Christ vs. Antichrist in Music topic.

On the day of my creation, I fell in love with education. And overcoming all frustration, a teacher I became.

From Somewhere but Yesterday by Citizen Cain:
Our Father art in heaven Hallowed be thy shame Thy kingdom is coming On the back of a beast again Coming sooner now But it's overun And they're spreading their whоrеs together Thy will will be done Spreading their wars forever Thy will is overun Spreading those whоrеs together Thy little will's well hung |

Here's one that hasn't been mentioned, "Hymn 43":
Our Father high in heaven Smile down upon your son Who's busy with his money games Or his women and his gun Oh, Jesus save me And the unsung western hero He killed an Indian or three And then he made his name in Hollywood To set the white man free Oh, Jesus save me If Jesus saves, well, he better save himself From the gory glory seekers who use his name in death, aw! Oh, Jesus save me If Jesus saves, well, he better save himself From the gory glory seekers who use his name in death Oh, Jesus save me Well, I saw him in the city And on the mountains of the moon, hey His cross was rather bloody, oh And he could hardly roll his stone Oh, Jesus save me |

Why would God "work for the bad guys"?
(It's not like the bad guys' credit goes that far...or anywhere at the Bank of God. ) |

What if Satan is actually God in disguise working for the bad guys?

The Polyphonic Spree - A devotional, white-smocked hippyish collective who appear to have more in common with a religious cult than a conventional pop band. Rosh Hashanah! I'll have mine with a side order of fried rice.
