In the Beginnings of a series of Total YES polls (inspired by Octopus II), it's by no means certain that YES will win this first poll (or at best with a Fragile lead) with so many great solo debuts to choose from, and on that note, give The Big Peace a chance. It sure Feels Good to Me. 1976: Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLujSdGxqdZ6WyZLL6dYFLVhtss0bnAfXR 1973: Peter Banks - Two Sides of Peter Banks - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv9UoDYiV5c 1978: Bruford - Feels Good to Me - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_TaS3ukydpIElvPyMSLUJ3xINuWUhotW 1987: Geoff Downes & New Dance Orchestra - The Light Program - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdktF-lL0yEapk1L5x6Xvsc0u4w1rIcMr 1975: Steve Howe - Beginnings - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m1CN9XaN_r6Kg46VO2t-bhQz6fclcPOuw 2021: Tony Kaye - End of Innocence - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mCjy2OnDnLX9XloXHOdwVCAZgPohqHFaw 1976: Patrick Moraz - The Story of I - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nZupj_nPr8lDbOn5lLKpoMqkFRn1ZOwI4 1978: Trevor Rabin - Beginnings - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuLppu1vEII 1999: Billy Sherwood - The Big Peace - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3-c1SXM7kvUxlKr4F2Pv2LRTYTTvvC81 1975: Chris Squire - Fish Out of Water - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lXJGLyAKLJKuc4-KSIMYxAruaWtvgXNrE 1973: Rick Wakeman - The Six Wives of Henry VIII - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLoIDt_C5y1LtZowz5527OrFUPTS44Xpuc 1976: Alan White - Ramshackled - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mCO0992tYlT1onGhTNn-s8575ePKdFlr0

The Yes debut is OK, but I think it pales compared to Squire's first solo effort. Bruford would be my runner-up. I actually find crotchless socks rather enjoyable. Oops, did I just type that out loud?

Tough list for my tastes in music but there is one album here I've given 4 stars to at least.
Bill Bruford and that killer lineup. |

Rick Wakeman's album made me realise there was life beyond ELP. The atmosphere of this album is quite remarkable. Rick was and still is a genius composer and the best multi keyboard player in prog , a master of the piano, mellotron, synths and organ. If there is any album that shows what prog keyboards is all about then this is it.

This is crazy to say, but I like Geoff Downes's Light Program album. I remember when I first heard it when it came out. I've been using it test speakers and qualify audio set ups for years. It is sonically and melodically profound. I think it may be the best thing he's ever done. I used to work for Voice of America in DC and I always used the album to test audio equipment and set ups. (And hate me for this but I think just about Everything Billy Sherwood touches stinks. I call him the Anti-Yes or the Yes destroyer. Everything he produces and plays on just sounds like its recorded in a tin can. His production values stink. I can hear his crappy boring/soul-less influence in everything he touches).
