My knowledge of Satanists is very limited, I just don't think of the whole notion of Satan as a splendid example of good ethics.

^As an atheist, songs about Satan is just entertainment really. Not much different from watching a horror movie. Both can be done in clever and stupid ways of course. Hades, Thor, God, Satan etc... they can all inspire people to make great art. That's what I care about, and not examples of good ethics.

Sinclair left LaVey's CoS? That's funny. She probably got tired of him trying to bum money off her. Word is the dude was living off handouts at the time of his death. |

^ she didn't start the Temple of Set. Her husband Michael Aquino did. Here's the official story but i personally know people who say that many of these "official" stories are not accurate. |

I am also atheist and in a local group with like-minded folks. Through that, i have a few friends and acquaintances who are members of The Satanic Temple, which is basically an atheist organization. They are pretty much an activist organization promoting equity, reproductive rights, and freedom from religion.
If a local church is given permission to display in government venues, they will seek equal treatment to display their 'satanic' materials. If a public school has an after school activity sponsored by church, they will work to organize an After-school Satan Club. They promote religious "rituals" to make abortion medication available for all women. |

* Come on down, kids! Let's draw a pentagram using colored chalk! * Today, we'll show you how to sacrifice a virgin with a Bratz doll (what, you thought we'd kill one of you for real!?). * Look! It's (human) kidney** burger day! **Kidney beans! We're vegans! * It's movie day! The Devil's Rain starring William Shatner and Ernest Borgnine! All-you-can-eat popcorn! |

Yes that is true. Lilith Sinclair did not start the Temple Of Set. However she was interrogated by Charles Pangburn and detectives in June 1971 after the Black Magic sacrifice of Mike Newell. Somewhere Pangburn had information or an idea that a large group of people that was a group of her own were behind the killing. Pangburn had confiscated evidence that he refused to divulge. Every newspaper reported that . Dating back to 1970 many people heard the cult or witnessed them at Menantico Ponds. Dressed in robes and wearing masks. Chanting and pounding on drums. Due to the improbable acoustics of the Menantico area...it was impossible to tell which direction the sound came from. A lot of people fled...running through the Pine Barrens to get home. Some people who witnessed the cult claimed they were adults and that only a few teenagers were involved. This was not a secret. All you had to do was basically go camping there. The mistake a lot of people made. In high school I remember kids being scared out of their minds. There weren't telling stories that didn't match. They all had the same story to tell. There was no sensationalism just fear and no one ever desired to return to Menantico. After the sacrifice many of us had unanswered questions about that particular group of people. People had been chased by this group...yet they managed to keep it out of the newspapers. A Christian community moved to Vineland shortly after and converted between 70 to 80 devil worshippers to Christianity. They gave their testimony in Landis Park. Apparently they did not know Mike Newell or the Satan Worshippers Sect that he supposedly belonged to. They had all been part of what people called back then...a Satan Cult...which in those times ( 1970) differed from the Church Of Satan. Supposedly the Church Of Satan was not about your spirit or Judeo-Christian concepts..but this group was. As I had stated before...their ritual was directly connected to Christian/Satanism in the belief that their sacrifice would engender the protection/aid of Christian demons. The references were to Lucifer or Satan. Their reference was a Judeo-Christian concept to be found in the writings of medieval theologians where demons had hierarchies and legions... As an atheist, I see some very good ethics in the Christian notion of God and his son, Jesus. |

I am classically trained as a musician since age 7 and as a child I was subjected to a occultism environment as such that there were strange people in my life claiming to be witches who tried to control me.
Through these strange experiences I have recorded instrumentals that were obviously inspired by that environment. At age 10 I experimented with Automatic Writing. Several people that I knewvin my youth belonged to a cult. They displayed multiple personalities. When they revealed characteristics of a sadistic bravado it was easy to see that their entire personality changed. By joining a cult they felt accepted and depending on the kind of cult it was they could act out their fantasies. Certain individuals that I crossed paths with were not a far cry from being criminally insane. I wasn't personally thrilled about being around people like that and I insisted on disappearing into the corporate side to the music business where I was protected by bodyguards, road crew, managers and goons. So I pissed off a bunch of occultists in the end. Who do they think they are? A strange place in my life was The Sandcastle. Ironically I ran across the place while traveling in the music business...where I was working under contract half the time and stepping up to play more important venues. Frank Woolworth supposedly had the mansion built. Rumor has it that Barbara Hutton was an occultist and used to visit the Sandcastle periodically so that she could spend time in the Spirit Room attempting to raise the dead. Supposedly she was interested in the spirit world. When I visited the Sand Castle there was a list of dark characters working there . They hired bands every week and I used to think that the staff dressed in black cloaks was merely a gimmick. As it turns out it wasn't. They were dark people with wealth and they got involved in hiring bands not unlike a Hollywood movie. People would often brush it off by saying they were harmless eccentrics with money running a business. More like ideal candidates for psychiatric treatment 😃 |

The real occult is the cult of the Rickenbacker bass. ;)

Think about it. The company is delivering an inferior product every new production run and continues to charge ridiculous money for it. Plus they're crazy about sending cease & desist letters to anyone who even partially replicates their "magic formula".
The Rickenbacker cultists are deranged delusional quasi-religious people, who over the years have written entire Bible-like mythologies about how undeniably perfect the Rickenbacker bass is, and about its falsely attributed supernatural qualities. The special wood, the special scale length, the rеtаrded looking horseshoe pickup cover and how all this fairy dust snake oil somehow make those overpriced and overglorified Rickenbackers better than affordable Chinese/Indonesian/Korean bass guitars. Those that actually deliver what you pay for without charging extra for an "iconic look". Because that bass guitar has been advertised (paid or unpaid) by prog gurus, it has become associated with a particular sorta sound. Rickenbacker cultists don't really see that a lot of the sound heard on "Rickenbacker albums" comes from the playing style, amp settings, EQ, compression and so on. They're blinded by all the blurb, marketing, brand prestige plus they want their purchases to be validated (while the greedy dоuсhebаgs at Rickenbacker inc. are laughing all the way to the bank). In the end what really "makes" the Rickenbacker bass sound the way it does is simply the right pickup distance and the stereo wiring. Not the wood, not the rеtаrded "special" scale length, not the "correct" trademarked shape. |

I don't reject listening to the music of Satanists, which by the way can be intended as much more than just entertainment or art. I just think, it's good with a critical (examining) approach to it. And then, we may have different view of what great art is. |
