    Posted: June 30 2024 at 13:43
So this is a 2019 list of albums which includes quite a few favourite albums of mine, both Prog and non-Prog -- and Prog related/adjacent/tangential... -- and it includes various albums I have not heard. Please vote for an album you like (I have NOT done multiple votes) and mention any others you like if you wish to both on and off this list. I would expect IQ's to get the most votes at PA, but I don't think of these polls as contests with winners and losers. Every album I like here is a winner in my book! lol

Big Big Train - Grand Tour
black midi - Schlagenheim
Ciśnienie - JazzArt Underground
The Comet Is Coming - Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery
Cult of Luna - A Dawn to Fear
De Lorians - De Lorians
Klone - Le Grand Voyage
Lana Del Rey - Norman F*cking Rockwell
Duster - Duster
IQ - Resistance
Izz - Don't Panic
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Infest the Rats Nest
Lingua Ignota - Caligula
Motorpsycho - The Crucible
The Neal Morse Band - The Great Adventure
Angel Olsen - All Mirrors
Opeth - In Cauda Venenum
Rascal Reporters - Redux, Vol. 1
Secret Chiefs 3 - Malkhut
Swans - leaving meaning.
Uboa - The Origin of My Depression
Vanishing Twin - The Age of Immunology
Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising
Wilderun - Veil of Imagination
Yamai - Le Silo

My favourite IQ album over Big Big Train, which hasn't yet left the station. Confused

I do like the Swans, The Comet Is Coming, Lingua Ignota, Vanishing Twin albums and some more, but the Cisnienie album eats them all for breakfast. Sometimes I vote for such underdog albums because nobody else does, but this one is insanely good.

2019 seems so long ago to me. Pre-pandemic times. I think I had heard about a third of the releases listed. For whatever reason, i had not listened to the Secret Chiefs 3 release. Voted for Motorpsycho.

A few other albums that were among my favorites, last one not on PA:

The Tea Club - If/When
Jambinai - Onda
Teeth of the Sea - Wraith
Fat White Family - Serf's Up

Edit to add a few more on PA:

Nolan Potter's Nightmare Band - Nightmare Forever
Monkey3 - Sphere
Helium Horse Fly - Hollowed
Bent Knee - You Know What They Mean
Sonar & David Torn - Tranceportatation Vol. 1
Oh Sees - Face Stabber

Forgot that one. Love it. Among the finest retro prog albums that I know of. So warm and atmospheric. It's got that special pastoral feel or sound to it (missing in a lot of seemingly similar retro prog) that originally made me fall in love with the sound of classic Prog. Easily in my top ten-fifteen and surely among my ten most listened to albums from this amazing year in music.

I might as well make a top twenty out of it and add another favorite four 4-star albums of the year I also forgot:

Maurice Louca - إلفنتين Elephantine
Little Simz - GREY Area
Jorja Chalmers - Human Again
Resavoir - Resavoir

I voted IQ, because I know it best on this list. But it’s a deeply disappointing album for me, the weakest the band have ever released.

Some great albums from that year though:
Cellar Darling - The Spell
Devin Townsend - Empath
Avantasia - Moonglow
Heaven is waiting but waiting is Hell
