Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver   Part One wasn't that long ago but the impact it had on me must have been miniscule as I had little recall as to what had actually happened. Luckily these movies as so shallow the story makes little difference. This part 2 is like a Magnificent Seven in space where the heroes band together to protect the poor farmers. The gist of it is: the galactic empire places massive importance on some grain from a sad little village on a distant planet. So much so they decide to launch a large scale attack on the villagers. And erm that's about it. The first half is dull as we build up to the battle. The actual fighting scenes are quite spectacular but nothing we haven't seen before. 4/10 I've forgotten it already - what was I talking about again?

^Well that may affect my next viewing choices. Both these were among the next 5 I had planned on watching.

Ferrari

The luscious and entirely watchable story of Enzo Ferrari at the height of his powers & struggles to be the top race car maker in Italy as he simultaneously fights to keep both his family and his racing legacy from breaking into pieces.   Adam Driver is superb, moving score from Daniel Pemberton, A must-see and the best drama of 2023.

A long time ago I saw The Heartbreak Kid, from 2007, directed by the Farrelly brothers (the same ones from There's Something About Mary) with Ben Stiller, and it had been good, with their pseudo-politically incorrect humor and even nods to Bowie...but I I came across the original version, called the same, The Heartbreak Kid, but from 1972. Based on a play by Neil Simon, and directed by Elaine May (who would work with John Cassavetes) with young Charles Grodin and Cybill Shepherd. And as always, the originals from the '70s surprise and make their mark in their wake, so much so that later versions can only degrade it. Without giving anything away, it is much deeper, disturbing and philosophical, and an ending that, as always in this era, is left to free interpretation.
